I have a decision to make with Sarevok. I intend on adding him to my party, but I'm not sure which direction to mold him in.

I am considering having him go for GM in Halberds and wield the Ravager +6, or, since he's already a GM in greatswords, I have the option of dual classing him into a thief and having him use Carsomyr (with UAI).

My party will only have 4 members after he joins:

    Berserker 13> Mage protagonist
    Anomen
    Imoen
    Sarevok

Any and all advice is welcome.

Sarevok + Ravager is full of win. ;)
Although if I'm playing a fighter, I'll take ***** in hallys and have Sarevok wield Soul Reaver initially, and then Gram once we've picked that up.
And dual class him? He's the ultimate tank, why mess with that?

besides dualling him at level 18 may mean you never get his fighter abilities back!

if you want to use 2h swords, rather use gram.

I had him using the Silver Sword for a while (Warblade or Soul Reaver are also quite good). Psion's Blade and Gram both work well for him.

Don't give him a halberd until he has **. Blackmist and Dragon's Breath are great early on -- don't forget Wave (it's excellent in Yaga Shura's lair). But after Yaga Shura and WK (for the Serpent Staff) you should shift entirely to the upgraded Ravager (except when battling Illithids). Between the insta-death of Ravager +6 and the Deathbringer Assault, Sarevok will be simply awesome.

Making him a thief will make your party challenging -- but I wouldn't do it just so he can use Carsomyr. He's deadly enough with Ravager and you don't really need a thief.

It's not impossible for him to get ***** in hallys if you let your party fight Fire Giants on Saradush's walls for a few hours...OK it's gimpy as hell but it's one way to get experience easily. See Dan Simmons' BG2/TOB walkthrough for details if you aren't sure how to do this.

I like the extra versatility from dualing him into a thief. Just my personal preference, I like the extra spellcasting from scrolls, wicked backstabbing with mislead, stoneskins...you name it. And the Carsomyr thing, well if I like Keldorn to have something else, then Sarevok's having that and Staff of Ram for backstabs. Soul Reaver's for bossfights and dragons. I tend to go for at least fighter/thief 22/30, for a bit of fun with a couple of GWW's or Smite...
