    What are people's thoughts on this? I believe this, at least in the long run, will put an end to free speech on the internet. Maybe I'm being paranoid? But in order for there to be free speech you have to be able to choose where that content comes from. Handing that choice over to the ISPs doesn't sound like a good trade off. Especially since we don't get anything in return.

    At the very least we'll probably get bombarded with new internet plans designed to suck more money out of our wallets.

    While I may not be happy with the end result, the court was correct. The FTC (hell basically the entire Obama administration) has been overstepping their authority. The executive branch is not supposed to make laws via fiat. Laws are supposed to be drafted by the Legislative branch.

    "Freedom of Speech" is impossible within the confines of the Internet itself and the Internet has uses beyond forums of Free Speech. Anyone looking for the full effects of Free Speech via the Internet is deluding themselves. In other words, the parameters requried for Free Speech compared to all uses needed for the Internet are not compatible.

    Someone update my legal history on this. Did legislatures pass a laws stating that you couldn't yell "fire" inside a theater when there isn't one?

    And even if they did, didn't they at some point approve of the FTC?

    Paramaters or not, was there sound reasoning for the FTC's earlier decisions?
