Rhomal, where is it stated that NWN2 is DX9.0c only as opposed to the quotes I recall of it using Shader 2.0 (3.0 if you have the hardware) and other fancy schmancy technical stuff?
I'll say it here and now. The game will ship supporting DX9.0c only. Someone on the previous page hit the nail on the head as to one of the big reasons why DX9.0 was chosen as the graphics API, however, those reasons no longer apply. With that being said and those reasons aside, there are still a number of reason why DX9 was the better choice at the time of development. The biggest one being that OpenGL 2.0 had not even been officially announced. As such, drivers have just now started to come out. How are you supposed to develop a game when there is no hardware support for the features that need to be implemented?I'm all ears on this one. It wasn't an issue of what we were more familiar with or what was "cheaper" to do because people needed to learn this and/or that. Internally, the APIs are very similar...so switching from one to the other, for those of us that know them, is not difficult. For those on the outside looking in and thinking you "know better", you need to realize that the games industry is just that...a "buisness industry". The are often times decisions made that you would never (and most of the times, never do) know about. Yet, they ultimately affect the way the development of a product will go. That's all I can really say on the matter. If you want to know or understand more about the true nature of game product development and the "buisness", then come join us on the "insides" of this great industry. ;)

Can we ditch the radial menus?
Interface often goes through iterations during development, so this is the current plan. Subject to change and all that jazz. The radial menu will get streamlined. The goal is that anything you do on a routine basis shouldn't be more than 3 layers deep. Combine this with having a ton more quickslots and it should be a smoother experience.

This whole thread scares me. [IMG]

    No currency denominations =(
comparing a gold piece to $10 does not seem accurate at ALL to me. How much is that video game? 20 dollars. In reality, it is 19.99 + tax, however you say and think '20 dollars'. How much is that soda? 99 cents, but you think 'a dollar'. The primary unit in the USA (conceptually) is the 'dollar'.
