    The looks!

Hehe all I know is that area transition will take awhile, since so many tilesets can be used per area.
    You "know" that huh?

    More:
That is a common belief - the new tilesets / painting technique will add time to the loading screen. Here is a similiar comment from the Map Caching post:
I see that. Who ever it was you quoted was right...there have been no posts by us on it (as far as I know). For the record though, I don't think things will really be any different. Yes, it's true we're probably physically loading more geometry and assets in general than the previous game. However, processing speed has increased significantly as well so I doubt anyone will feel it or notice it.

    Importing/Exporting tile sets

One thing I'm curious about is if we will be able to create a more natural shoreline along a beach or lake where a character may be able to walk out a little ways, and maybe be able to create submerged sand bars so characters might be able to 'wade' to a nearby island in a lake or in the middle of a river...
    This should be doable.

Sorry ladies and gents, but I am still not getting it. I want to place a Lava Flow in a Frozen Waste Land. How do I do That. Please understand I have had brain surgery and I am a bit slow, but I will understand if it is explaned to me in detail. Sorry again for the hassle.
Actually you'll understand it just fine when you see it in action with your own eyes. Until then, I guess you'll just have to wait...oh, and take our word for it.

If I messed up, someone with better knowledge please step in.
You probably won't be "painting" down trees. But you'll still be able to place them with ease.

SUGGESTION: Alignment changes for the Official Campaign
Interesting discussion. We're changing the alignment system somewhat in NWN2 - but nothing too radical. You will still go up and down in the Good/Evil and Law/Chaos axises based off on part due to your actions and your motivations. For the single-player campaign, we effectively have to make the calls a good DM would. IMHO, alignment systems are something that can add a lot of fun to dialogue - certainly I enjoy them. If you want to be lawful good - you have to walk the walk, and talk the talk. Sort of a related fun story (to me, at least), John Lee was the first designer on the project besides myself. When we were making the early levels we'd often get in pretty deep philosophical discussions about what alignment shifts should result from the player's choices. It was amazing how complicated morality could get in some situations and whether certain actions - whose on their face is evil or good - have some possible intent that could abolish any changes. So we think about these things, too. Alignment systems can really make you think about what's the right thing to do in murky situations.

    Mounts and Mounted Combat.
Mounted combat is still under review and development. The PnP rules don't easily translate into real-time CRPG rules. This of course has been the case with other rules, feats, skills, and spells already. The plan is to still have mounted combat, but just be aware that there will probably be some changes to the rules.
