Here are today's Neverwinter Nights 2 forum highlights, collected by NWVault from Obsidian Forums. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

    NWN2 Writers
There is no single writer for any modern RPG I can think of. The writers for RPGs are the design team - and occasionally some other folks. Currently the design team for NWN2 is Chris Avellone, Michael Chu, Tony Evans, John Lee, Kevin Saunders, and yours truly. And all of us will be doing writing.

More: Rhomal - by modern RPG I meant games like Baldur's Gate I and II, Fallout I and II, PST, Final Fantasy VII+, etc. Games that have RPG elements don't have to have the same high word count and so a single author can tackle them. Although if you wrote all of the dialogue for Vampire: Bloodlines, then hats off to you. That is quite an achievement. If the heart of the original question was who wrote the core story for Neverwinter Nights 2 (and not necessarily all of the writing for the game), then the primary author would be me. But the creation of the story was a highly colloborative effort with all of the designers giving tons of their input - and also Frank Kowalkowski lent considerable assistance.

    Interface
We don't plan on a modern looking interface. I really liked the look of interfaces like the BG series and PST. In my opinion, those looked fantasy and cool. But the particulars of how the interface looks rests in very capable artistic hands (and you thank your lucky stars I'm not doing it, of the many things I am, an artist I am not.)

    Torches

the only problem with NWN and torches is that you can't turn them OFF in the game. setting the color back to black will not remove the flame. (this goes for placeables also) i really hope obsidean doesn't make the same mistake.
The way things appear to be shaping up, you'll be able to place your own lights as well as possibly specify an ambient value. If you want it black, I don't see why you can't have black.

    More :
I like to have pitch black areas also, but one thing you need to know is that in order to do this you have to kill the glow emitted by players (yes they glow slightly). It's somewhat annoying.
    That was killed months ago
