Here are today's Neverwinter Nights 2 forum highlights, collected by NWVault. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

If RTS walkmesh can we bump aside companions
Yes.. your companions will get out of your way.

Filtering of FP textures and Vertex Texturing
No, we're currently not using vertex texturing because it's slow, and again vendor specific. There is also no parallax mapping. I had hoped to get that in, but it doesn't look like it will make it.

I think one thing people need to keep in mind when comparing to engines like UE3 and even Oblivion, is that UE3 is the evolution of an engine over at least the last decade! That's a lot of time and a lot of refinement. To some degree, the same goes for Oblivion.

The full-on rewrite of the rendering engine as well as other core sub-systems, started for us about 12-14 months ago. That's really not a whole lot of time when you're implementing next-gen tech. [IMG]

More: Well, it's certainly nice to see that there are some people out there who actually "get" and understand this concept.

For the record, I'm not trying to toot our own horn, I'm just trying to put and keep things into perspective. I know as a consumer (because yes, I'm one too) it becomes easy to start expecting the unrealistic.

If people keep things real I think it works out best for everybody. ;)

    Dear original poster,

Please do not hold your breath!

    NWN & HD
Yes it can be done. We do it all the time here at the office when demoing the game.

+1 level of existing arcane spell class

It works like the rules say - which does mean if you go Arcane Trickster 10 / Wizard 10 you would be able to cast 9th level spells and have the same number of spells per day as a 20th level Wizard. That way caster classes have prestige classes that don't hurt their spell-casting abilities. :)
