Here are today's Neverwinter Nights 2 forum highlights, collected by NWVault. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

A question whose import you cannot even begin to fathom
This should not be taken as any kind of commentary on whether or not such things exist in NWN2 (because that's not my department), but why do you want to know about these things in advance? Isn't it better to be surprised by Easter eggs?

Any chance engine will support Turnbased as well as realtime?
    A) Two separate play modes is not going to happen, sorry.B) Everyone needs to chill.

    Water Color
Water will be fully customizeable in terms of color, and various other characteristics.

    More:
Awesome news. Thanks for the info.
    No problem.

    More:
And the more I hear, I think that everything is customizable... I like what I'm hearing...
We've really gone out of our way with the new rendering engine to provide you guys (the end users) with as much flexibility as possible. More flexibility means more variety and more variety translates into a more interesting and fun experience for everyone involved.Even here at the office we have a ton of fun playing with the toolset and whipping up cool little levels that look vastly different from one and other...all in the matter of a few minutes.

A question for NWN modders about NWN2

Someone may figure a way later tho.
    I SERIOUSLY doubt that.

    Improved Aurora in NWN2?

NWN 2 is more advanced, FX engine wise, then the witcher. At least thats what I draw from what info has been released about both. And technically I am a Obsidian Moderator not Bioware. FYI
Well, I think we each have our own agendas to fill with these engines...the Witcher's new rendering engine suits their needs and our new rendering engine suits ours. There's no competetion really. However, I do find it interesting to see one of the CDProjekt guys on here. Hello! And how goes the battle to bring Aurora into the new age? Best of luck and we look forward to seeing your final project/game!

Thanks for the info/correction Brian. I was under the impression otherwise. That aside, I am a bit perplexed. If you started July yet the re-write didnt start until the fall what did you do for those 3 or so months? If you didnt have the new engine to work on, and had not started writing the new engine... forgive if this a ignorant question on my part.
I spent that time looking at the old engine and assesing/evaluating what...if any of it...was reuseable for what we wanted to do moving forward. Ultimately, as you now know, the decision to build from the ground up was made. And if you ask me, it was a great decision and the right decision. Hopefully you'll agree when you're finally able to see what we have going on.

Please give the community more power…

Woe Woe Woe - How long you been working on this to date? (Sometime 2004?)
Pre-production started mid to late 2004. I would estimate that full-production started sometime around Feb./Mar. of this year.

    Solid Intro
I am a big fan of believability. And if you're a first level guy from a po-dunk village in the middle of a swamp, you should be treated like it. By the time the player is tasked with big things from big people, it should make sense.

What character will you start with?
It's been so long since I've gotten to choose my own class. In pen-and-paper I always wait until everyone else has picked a class and then I fill in the hole (and thus I've played *many* clerics). And for CRPGs, often my choice is based off work stuff. That being said, I really like goodly wizards. Although after playing a few sorcerers, they may become my new favorite.

    NEW RACES
We're not planning on doing any templates for NWN2. They are interesting, but many of them would be hell on balance. Besides, having to design a story that works if you're any one of X races and undead or half-dragon half-banana gives me a headache. Would you guys be satisfied if we give you templates but the game world doesn't react to them? My guess is I'd be reading some unhappy forum posts.I figure giving you guys the options of choosing some of the cooler playable sub-races is cause for celebration, and we won't draw too much disappointment for not going further. Perhaps in expansions...?
