Real-Time High Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting

What is floating point render target support?
Until somewhat recently, your typical frame buffer was made up of 8-bits per channel for a total of either 24 or 32 bits (with alpha). Today, most hardware supports "floating point" frame buffers (or render targets) with a variety of floating point formats to chose from. Some of which are 16-bits floating point per channel, and even 32-bits floating point per channel. With these formats you can maintain a much higher precision and range (above 1.0 or 255) for things like true high dynamic range lighting. It's pretty cool.

    TES 4: Oblivion

I've been listening to every scrap of info about The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion for the past few months, and the screenshots are jaw-dropping. Seeing as how Oblivion is (supposedly) being released a few months before NWN2, do you think the graphics will be better? If they are, then I have no worries about the beauty of the game. Of course, this'll be pure speculation until a week or two before E3.
I just saw the graphice for Oblivion and all I can say is..."Gahhhhhh" [IMG] ...Well, that and that Obsidian has their work cut out for them. The day an ES goes Multi-player... Gahhhhh....
That video was cool and all, but where are the lengthy uninterrupted videos of "actual" game play? Anybody remember those Fable movies of gameplay that were released back before Fable came out? Hmmm...*scratches head*

    More:
An indication of what we can expect, improved upon? That alone would make my day.
No. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that for me personally, before I start to get excited about ANY game's looks and performance (if at all), I'm going to need to see footage similar to what we saw in Fable in terms of believing something is "actually" playable. Those Fable movies were like 15+ minutes long with commentary and there was no doubt as to how that game was going to look and play in the final end product.I would hope that when it comes time for us to show stuff off, we can manage to do it in a similar way. ;)

    More:
But all the game sites (IGN, Gamespy, Gamespot) reviewed it and said that it had excellent physics, graphics, combat, story and a huge, immersive world.
Oh... You mean all those guys that actually thought the KillZone 2 video was "real" PS3 in-game footage??
