    Animated textures?

Best water today is right here...
Again, a flat plane with animated/scrolling normal maps, reflections only, no REFRACTION...

    More:
But Brian, is there fish
There can definitely be fish. No problem.

    More:
Fish that can move freely round the tiles? Or that are animated. We were trying to put fish into nwn, and found out that it was practically impossible, as if you set it as a monster the fish would walk swim of the water :/The only way was making them as animated part of the tiles, and well... that was limiting to say the least.
Well, fish as a "monster" means that there has to be proper AI for the fish...and well, that's kind of a problem wouldn't ya say? I mean if I had 5 years to write the game then yeah, we could have realisticly behaved fish. But, unfortunately they'll probably have to be placed with animations. But, they'll look way cool all rippling beneath the water! :DActually, I take that back. I'm not up to speed 100% with what's been done with the pathing etc, so it may very well be possible to have the fish move around within the specified water region as a "non-hostile" creature. At the moment, we have friendly guys walking around town and they make their rounds, so I don't see why a fish couldn't be handled the same way. ???

Single Player Campaign is MORE important than the toolset
Fortunately on this front, making the toolset better helps us deliver a better OC. So helping the community helps us out in equal measure - I wish there was more synergy like that in making games.I agree that a large percentage of our audience cares exclusively about the OC. So we plan on making that a great experience. We've got features that'll make the multiplayer crowd happy, too - but I want the OC to suck up people's spare time. Like a leech. :)

    DM client redux
Someone mentioned that there's been very good discussion on other forums about DM clients. Could anyone post some links to some good threads? It's hard for me to keep up on more than just our happy forums. So a nudge in the proper direction would help. What I'm most curious about are what sort of things we could provide that the community couldn't solve on its own. I've been very impressed with the utilities folks have come up with, so I want to provide features, functionality, or accessibility that would stymie them.
