And, let's face it, with a game that's been in development as long as this one has, people may not read up on it for 6 months at a stretch...
Well, for the record the game has only been in development a little over 12 months. :o

I'm not sure why people think we've been working on it forever. People are so quick to compare us technically to games like The Witcher and Oblivion (which I can understand the reason for comparison)...but people fail to realize that THEY have been in development for 3+ years if not longer.

The graphics engine rewrite along with the rest of the subsystem rewrites for us, started literally this time last year. You do the math...

    Warlock is in (PC Gamer)
When we were considering base classes, I thought that warlock was one of the most ambitious because we're adding a whole new set of invocations (basically spells) in addition to base class abilities. Watching Kevin Saunders (one of our designers) play the Warlock in our PnP game really made me antsy to see it in the game. It's not going to be for everyone, but I think plenty of people will get a kick out of it.

    Final class selection?
No more base classes are planned for the OC. Perhaps and expansion? Who's to say. :)

Again, perhaps someone is able to cast more light on the warlock, especially with regard to the official PNP material. There's already a great lot of prestige classes, feats, templates and everything in the PNP books and there's no need to make something that doesn't exist outside a specific cRPG game. Unless it actually does exist in PNP, of which I'm not aware. I'm not against setting-specific or even campaign-specific prestige classes, feats and templates, but a non-canonical base class is quite much.

It does exist in one of the official books, but one that I don't have, and I'm not sure which. It's a base class, but beyond that I know nothing about it.

I'm looking forward to seeing 3.5E rangers, with decreased HP but increased skills and free Evasion, as well as fighting styles to choose, speaking of classes. I wish Wizards of the Coast had something like that for paladins, instead of crippling their Turn Undead ability and making the bonded mount a pocket summonable creature.

Besides, I wonder if warlock doesn't have anything to do with the Witcher, by chance. Actually, the proper translation should be warlock, not witcher, and even the author of the original books likes it better.

The Warlock base class is right there. Completely D&D.

So it's canonical, at least using those extended rules, but still weird. I mean, why just one class like that and all. It's not like base classes should be totally fixed but it still feels somewhat weird. Then again, if it's done well and in a way compatible with the standard classes, I might actually enjoy it.
