Completing the holy trinity of mass gaming entertainment websites is GameSpy with its own preview of Neverwinter Nights 2. If you thought you were the only one who couldn't make sense of the D&D alignment system, fear not:

"The fact that the Dungeons & Dragons morality system has a Law & Chaos axis in addition to Good and Evil drove us crazy -- especially when you compare it to the simple Dark Side/Light Side Star Wars system." The speaker who just jumped into the discussion is Ferret Baudoin, the game's lead designer. The single-player campaign is his responsibility and he practically gushes with enthusiasm as he warms to his subject. "When you're putting together situations and responses, you have to take all sorts of things into account." He gives the example of a man stealing a loaf of bread to feed his family. If the player decides to help the constable tracking him down, that's clearly a lawful act, but is it good? Helping the thief contributes to chaos, but is it evil? That's the kind of ambiguity the team ran into all the time. "It's been really difficult, "Baudoin said, "We've had meetings that lasted hours where we just sat around arguing the morality of a particular sequence in the game and providing viable options for every moral shade available."

How misérable... Available in its entirety at GameSpy.

Cool; this is the most detailed preview I saw yet. Looks quite good so far, especially the bit about multiple NPC :)
