    But does Atari control what's on downloads.bioware.com, or what is the issue?
    Not directly but Atari does control the approval process. Approvals are generally more relaxed for beta patches but something has apparently come up that warranted a Windows-only release of the 1.65 beta patch.

    hordes manual, in pdf format?
    Once you have Hordes installed, you can find the pdf of the manual in the 'docs' folder of your Neverwinter Nights install directory (default location is C:NeverwinterNightsNWNdocs )

    GameSpy Dropping Mac Support?
    NWN users Gamespy for matchmaking (server list browser) - our multiplayer, master server, favourites and buddy list systems were developed in house and are running on BioWare's network - they do not use gamespy.

    I'd guess there's weirdness in the 1.65 Windows Beta. Good thing I didn't download it.
    No that is wrong. The weirdness is in regards to the Mac 1.65 Beta not yet being available.

    I just fear that they will be swallowed into the corporate mire by the lure of filthy lucre!
    Not going to happen. that's not what the Premium modules are for. Besides, it's not like someone can just choose to create modules for BioWare on a whim, and creating premium modules for BioWare isn't a permanent position. It's a contract job. The Premium modules aren't intended to replace community content; they're supplementing it. :D Ever!
