    Premium Modules and Linux
    The wait won't be long...

    1.65 status?
Its all coming together. The wait won't be too long. Did we want to make our non-Windows fans wait? Of course not. We are doing our best to get this all resolved. Not to overuse the word "patience"... :)

I'm really disappointed with the way this is going, I spend my money on games, I don't expect to then pay more to be able to use them.
I assume you realize that you're exaggerating the problem here but I'll explain for the sake of clarity, regardless.

Once you've purchased NWN, you can continue to play the official campaign, your own creations, and the countless other community-made modules for free. You can obtain patches and updates for free, including new content like kobolds, gnolls, sea hags, and more.

If you purchase one or both of our expansion packs, you can then play those all-new official campaigns, your own creations using those expansion pack resources, and countless other community modules made with those expansion pack resources, all for free. Patches and updates continue to be free.

If, for whatever reason, you choose not to purchase one of our premium modules, all it means is that you're not allowed to play that particular module. You still get patches and updates for free, you still get to play all of the other campaigns and modules that you could previously as well as countless new ones being released to the Vault every day.

In other words, these premium modules are far less restrictive than the expansion packs and are by no means a required purchase for further NWN play. To suggest that this is somehow driving you to pirate NWN is foolish as it has absolutely no bearing on your ability to play the premium modules.

We feel we've created some enjoyable modules here and we fully expect future premium modules to be even cooler. We're selling them at a low, affordable price. The money raised helps justify continued support and development of NWN and gives the Live Team a voice in the development of future BioWare titles. You can either support this iniative or not but please don't misrepresent it or use it as some sort of justification for acts of piracy.

A Plea To The Designers About About IKD and 1.65 Patch
There are reasons behind every fix we choose to make, or choose not to make. We also have reasons for why we choose not to make those reasons publicly known. There is, quite simply, a reason for everything.

    More:
This is widely known. But the tools that Bioware has created does support PWs, so indirectly Bioware supports PWs. Bioware also produces the Stand Alone Server. I know it is for the Multi-Player aspect. But it is also used for PWs.

Bioware has always said that it will introduce Patches etc without great regard to Community produced content.

If Bioware did not support PWs, then I suspect that we sould all be using third party software to run them - or community created software.

Also, changes in patches (for example 1.64) had a small change to the Nwn.ini, that was certainly for the Server (server dataen settings) to produce a logfile - and this is certainly most useful for PWs! In fact, Bio actually asked that these logs be sent in to them.

So, I would consider that official support, just not a high priority type support.
Features such as the Standalone Client are intended for multiplayer use, yes. This does not mean we indirectly support persistent worlds. That's simply what you chose to use the tools for. You make it sound like if somebody used the toolset to make a module about child abuse, that we indirectly support it because we provided the tools.

    Think again.

We do not support Persistent Worlds. End of story. [IMG]
