Interview of Rob Bartel, part 1
Yup. We'd been hoping to cram them into the patch but they're just too darn big. We are taking a hybrid approach, however, in that we'll keep the tileset.2da file patched to ensure no future conflicts. We'll also be promoting the tileset hakpaks through the autopatcher as optional downloads (like Jay's demo modules, our newsletters, and so forth) to ensure a broader awareness and distribution. I think the web team also has some plans to promote it as a BioWednesday item and also work with Maximus to ensure promotion on the Vault.

Note that Patch 1.67 will include all of the new creatures, placeables, items, VFX and so forth, as originally featured in the Pirates of the Sword Coast premium module.

There are a couple of things that you can do that should fix this issue for you:

    1) Run the updater which will update your game to the 1.66 version (which turns of the single player legal character check).

    or

    2) Open up your nwnplayer.ini file and change the following two lines from:
    Single Player Enforce Legal Characters=1
    Single Player ItemLevelRestrictions=1

    to
    Single Player Enforce Legal Characters=0
    Single Player ItemLevelRestrictions=0

Which will also turn off the single player legal character check.

    3) If you are playing the game in multiplayer, then at the "load game" screen click on the "Advanced Options" button and turn off "Enforce Legal Characters"

    Invalid Pointer Operation

Hiya, I,ve just completed NWN and when I installed SOU, the game refuses to load and I get a pop up with Invalid Pointer Operation. I,ve read the other thread and followed the suggestions, but none of its working, i.ve uninstalled and installed several times and everythings fine till i install the SOU. My system is windows xp pro, AMD 2800+ CPU, Nvidia Geforce 4 mx 440 with agp8x. - I use ccleaner to remove/uninstall everytime so that the reg entries are fully deleted. I,ve tried updating and not updating before installing SOU but no joy, and its doing my head in now, any suggestions?
I believe this issue was fixed in one of the patches a while back. If you run the updater and update your game to the 1.66 version of the game, the issue should go away.

There is sticky in the SoU forum still about this issue that may also be of help (in case you are unable to download the patch for some reason).

    Diamond missing Shadow Guard?
Shadow Guard (and Kingmaker) were designed as single player adventures and can not be played in multiplayer.

Witch's Wake does support multiplayer (as does Pirates of the Sword Coast, although the Diamond Edition doesn't come with Pirates).

    Issue with SotU
It sounds like your character may have acquired a custom item from another module (that uses a hak pak) that is not supported by the module your character is now in.

If you can remember the module that they acquired the item from, you can try:
    - loading up your character in that module
    - drop the custom item
    - export your character without the custom item.
    - import your character into the new module.

That should fix the issue for you.
We should also have a fix for this issue in the upcoming 1.67 update, but we wont have a beta of the 1.67 update available until at least January, so the above approach will probably be your best be for now.

    Diamond Kingmaker "expansion"?!

Actually, yes. Every 10 or so years I play my Infocom games; once I have sufficient time to forget how to win. I still remember how to solve the Babelfish problem in Hitchhiker's to my regret.

Then there are the PC versions of the original gold box games by SSI. I replay these every 10 years or less. My brother's favorite NWN module is Eye of the Beholder. He's played that about 20 times the last year.

And I just got SSI Ultimate Adventure's a month ago. And a couple years ago SSIs Space General and Allied General to finish off the series. Have to use my old computer for them.

And every now and then I replay the Lucas/Spielberg "The Dig" because of the great sound and acting. As well as othe LucasArts greats like Monkey Island and Full Throttle.

So yeah, I expect to be playing these games again in 10 years then 20 then 30 if I'm still around. I want my money's worth!
    Ouch, I'm sorry I asked. :p

That's cool; I can't do that anymore. My brain's wired to want the newer, brighter, shinier games. I can't even play BG2 anymore (not because of the game itself, it's those AD&D rules I'm not fond of)!

Quote: So keep putting out those disks.
Like I keep telling people, you'll have to talk to our publisher about that. ;)

how do i become a dm on a server
All of these methods are good and useful. :)

If you enjoy a PW a lot and wish to become more involved with it, talk to the server admins about volunteering your services as a DM. Different admins will have different criteria for their DMs, which may require anything from being a player in good standing for a time or baking some cookies or doing a little dance.

Whatever the case, contacting the server admin is always a good idea when you have a question or concern with a particular server or world. Thanks!
