Here are today's Neverwinter Nights forum highlights, collected by NWVault. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

you can just use the line index from spells.2da instead of the constant.

Both BioWare and Atari take this very seriously.

We had several cases in the past where people decided to test this clause of the EULA. In every single of those cases those people would come to this board shortly thereafter and post a public apology and refrain from trying to do it again after having a chat with nice lawyers from Atari's legal team.

If you have any indication that someone is violating this part of the EULA, feel free to contact Derek French via PM.

Also, NWCSnake, please, unless you are a lawyer into this subject matter, please be very careful with making any kind of statement about what "should be legal" to do :)

As an additional angle, some people seem to forget that trying to do something like this will have all kinds of tax implications.

There have been discussions about this in the past and if you search for those threads you can find a lot of other details (such as the impact of the D&D license) on this subject matter.

this Widgets are relly cool, will there be one for mass effect?
    Maybe :)

    Any plans for a 1.67?

// Setting an object's name to "" will make the object
// revert to using the name it had originally before any
// SetName() calls were made on the object.
Will the name restore work after a module reset? For example, if SetName() is used on an item possessed by a character and the character is saved and then joins a different module -- will SetName(oItem, "") restore the original name still?
My guess (and only Craig could answer this for sure) is yes. The "override" name is likely stored in a new field in the item .gff and the game will show the contents of this field if it is present and != "", otherwise it will revert back to the default name.

    Any plans for a 1.67?
    What Georg said.

More: Item Properties have not changed much. I fixed an issue with
ItemPropertyImmunityToSpellLevel() and a typo in the IP_CONST_FEAT_USE_POISON
constant, but that is about it.

There is no new SetBaseStat() scripting command, but it is now at least
easier to get the base stat with the new expanded functionality of
GetAbilityScore(object oCreature, int nAbilityType, int nBaseAbilityScore=FALSE)

There will be no new SetBaseWeaponType(object) functionality.

There is no new functionality with respect to changing hit points.

For the SetName() scripting command a new "DisplayName" field will be
written out on supported game objects.
As Georg surmised if this field exists and is not "" then it will be used
in game, otherwise the original name will used.
So yes if you use SetName() on an object the new name will remain in effect
across a Save/Load (such as taking a renamed item into another module).

One thing to be aware of is that because a number of new fields have been
added to some of the in-game objects in the 1.67 update, I believe it is
highly likely that some community made tools such as NWNX2 will mostly likely
no longer work with the 1.67 update (at least until the people that
maintain those tools have a chance to update them to be compatible with the
1.67 update). So once the 1.67 beta becomes available I would strongly
recommend any server admins to download the beta and do some testing
with their servers in order to iron out any issues they have before
the final 1.67 update goes live.

Also with the addition of some of the
new content from the Pirates of the Sword Coast Premium module being
added to the game resources, if you use any custom content on your server
(i.e. hak paks) you may also need to merge some of the new 2da changes
with your custom 2da to make everything work well together.

SetName() & 43 other new commands in patch 1.67

Now, back to hoping a PC OnDamaged function is in that 40+!
I wouldn't count on it. You're not asking for a new function; you're asking for a new event. 40+ new functions sounds great, but I haven't heard any indication that they're planning to add any new events.
There is one new event in the 1.67 update, but its NOT a PC OnDamaged event :evillol:

So we can't profit from anything we make...Then what about DLA? [IMG]
    What about them?

More: Yes, there will always be those who want to pay money for in-game extras. The point we're making here isn't whether such a thing exists, is wanted, or by whom. The point is that such transactions are forbidden by the EULA. And this is not to mention that it goes against the spirit of the game, anyway! ;) Just as one shouldn't bribe one's GM for extra consideration in a PnP game, and shouldn't pay an extra secret "consulting fee" at a convention to give one's character a stat or equipment bonus in a tournament game, they shouldn't be paying money for in-game considerations for NWN. :)

30 Nov 2005 - The Contest That Might Become Your Career

Probably doesn't matter for the BioWare Store prizes but don't expect that "Special Prize" if you're under 18.
That seems to be a good guideline, since employment at BioWare requires the signing of various contracts, to which minors cannot be legally bound.
