I believe the problem with the stool placeable in particular, is that the use node was set incorrectly on the model. I believe this issue has been fixed for the upcoming 1.66 beta 2 patch.

Help with area of effect in my script, please
You're using GetFirstObjectInShape() to get the initial target in the cone shape, but there's no loop utilizing GetNextObjectInShape() to acquire further targets. :)

More: Misread the original post. Let's see if we can't debug this a bit, eh? The way the script works now, is that it will get the nearest creature and pinpoint the end of an 11.0 meter wide cone on them. Now, there's no checking for distance from the ballista, so this is going to grab the nearest creature, period. That may not be what you want, but that's another problem altogether.

This script should always be grabbing a hostile creature, because of the declaration used to get oHostile. You may be grabbing dead creatures, though. Those aren't being filtered out. The problem is likely in the GetFirstObjectInShape call. Since you're using a cone, it needs a vector to originate from. You haven't specified one, so it's going off the default of 0.0,0.0,0.0

Try setting the origin to be the ballista, and see if that helps. :) A quick debug test would be to change the instances of oTarget to oHostile, and see if it's still hitting something.

    Weapon Question
Fundamentally, the longsword is capable of dealing more damage with a normal hit (1d8 + 3 = 4-11) compared to a rapier (1d6 + 3 = 4 - 9). However, rapiers have a higher critical threat range, and thus are able to strike critical hits more frequently. Rapiers are also affected by the Weapon Finesse feat, which allows you to use your Dexterity modifier rather than you Strength modifier when rolling to hit. They both have their own inherent advantages. Neither is necessarily better than the other. The question is: which one is better for YOUR character? Rogues tend to work well with rapiers, because of their high dexterity. Fighter types tend to work well with longswords, because they have faster access to feats that increase its critical threat range and damage.
