    Here are today's Neverwinter Nights forum highlights, collected by NWVault. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

    adult servers
    There are no rules regarding which servers should use which category online and BioWare does not monitor or police servers out there.

    our rights to create Variations are subject
    to the following restrictions: (1) your Variations must only work with
    the full commercial version of the software game NEVERWINTER NIGHTS;
    (2) your Variations must not contain modifications to any executable file;
    (3) your Variations must not contain any libelous, defamatory, pornographic,
    obscene, or other illegal material, material that is scandalous or
    invades the rights of privacy or publicity of any third party, or
    contain any trademarks, copyright-protected work or other property of
    third parties, or contain any viruses, worms, or other malicious code;
    and (4) you may not rent, sell, lease, lend, offer on a pay-per-play or
    timesharing basis or otherwise commercially exploit or commercially distribute
    your Variations (including, without limitation, hosting pay-per-play servers,
    hosting pay-per-download web-sites for Variations including sites that charge
    for bandwidth use, and independently selling Variations online, at retail,
    mail order, etc.).
    That's the EULA part that explains the limitations in regards to content with each NWN installation. No word about modules for an adult audience being not allowed.

    More:

    (3) your Variations must not contain any libelous, defamatory, pornographic,
    obscene, or other illegal material,
    This pretty much covers Adult-oriented servers......

    Notice the words obscene and pornographic :) Interpretation, yes, but who's interpretation.....

    Obviously not Georg's :p
    First off, "adult material" means material suited for grown-ups. Not every book or movie that is targeted at an adult audience is pornography.

    As for pornographic, that's obviously definition based, and up to others to define that in case of an EULA dispute, IANAL. Shampoo commercials running at 6pm in European TV would be considered pornographic in certain places here in North America...

    NWN states quite clearly that the Experience Might Change During Online Play - just like any online game without monthly fee that allows user created content, maps, models, etc.

    IMO it's up for the legal guardian to watch what their children are playing online - Otherwise , you could kiss goodbye to the idea of user created content in games, or even the idea of free multiplayer in games, because nobody could afford a team that patrols all user created modules and plays through them to verify they are morally acceptable - and that wouldn't even solve the problem of definitions and standards being different by territory.

    If you feel something is totally out of line, you can always inform Atari about an EULA violation, they are the publisher, through given NWN is a 3 year old game, it might just be easier to prevent children from using NWN online play (it's, after all, not guaranteed to have T content). But if you feel it's necessary, Atari is the party to contact about EULA violations, and it's up to them whether or not they want to pursue investigating that particular violation.

    Anyway, I think given the resolution and polycount of NWN models, it's pretty hard to find someone who would actually see the "designed with the intend to arouse sexual excitement" that defines "pornographic" in Webster's Dictionary. If it's inspiring any emotion, it's probably pity.

    Errr... what shampoo commercials?

    And porn doesn't require any visual aspect to be porn. Dialogues also matter.
