    Here are today's Neverwinter Nights forum highlights, collected by NWVault. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context.     Success of premium modules vs. acceptance of copy protection method
    While we do sympathize with those who erroneously paid for and downloaded the modules without reading or understanding the requirements, I'd recommend that one considers more carefully where the blame for such a transaction lies. Is it with the seller ("You guys didn't mention anywhere that I needed a computer to play this game.") or with the buyer ("I just assumed that it would work on my television.")? And learn as much about the product before buying, if there's any doubt.

    Consider that, as a consumer, one has a very one-sided relationship with his point of purchase. That is, he is purchasing from somewhere, and that somewhere is selling to him. Once that transaction is complete, he may never have need of them again.

    The point of purchase, however, does not have the same luxury of fire-and-forget (back-of-truck transactions not included) transactions. They have to deal with all kinds of people with all kinds of expectations. To handle all this, they engage in a lot of research and study to figure out how best to do what they want to do: sell, make money, and attract new and return customers. The trick is to please as many people as possible, as often as possible (get your mind out of the gutter, EvilTypeGuy).

    "Good," you say, "then if you want customers so much, why aren't you making the changes I suggested? I had some really wesome ideas!" Well, Little Joe Communitymember, you did indeed, but while you're asking us to change something to suit you, there are all these other people all around you who may have different, even opposing views. Even in this one thread, we have vastly differing viewpoints, representing the entire spectrum of satisfaction with our system. And all of them want things changed to suit them. If we don't make your changes, you'll be disappointed. But if we don't make Little Susie Forumposter's changes, she will be disappointed.

    Who do we listen to?

    The simple answer is: everyone. While we do listen to our community members, BioWare--any business, really--is not a democracy. The business is run by (usually) intelligent, talented, dedicated people who want to see the business succeed. Part of that success comes from doing what you do well, as often as possible. For BioWare, that means making great video games and dealing with our community. Note: that's community as a whole, not just the "fanb0iz" (those who like us) or just the "tr0llz" (those who don't). Heck, we even listen to Tarmack! ;)

    So keep up the discussion and make your views known. This has been a very hot topic for this forum, and while I don't anticipate any reconciliation between the two sides, I do like the ideas being presented on both sides. This is why I love working here and dealing with the community. Thanks, everyone, and thanks for watching this educational film, created in 1973!

    How old is too old to play this game
    My own age, I won't say. :p I used to DM for groups of people on Neverwinterconnections.com that consisted of 16 - 43 in age. Studies show the average age of our CRPG player is 29, as I recall. So, as you can see, it's a pretty wide spectrum. There is no such thing as "too old." That's like saying "When am I too old to have fun?" NEVER! :D

    More:
    In some ways the generations that grew up on "Doom", and the other First-Person Shooters, have been lucky to have such great 3D action games us older folk didnt have, but I think they tend to also try and treat D&D like its a big shoot-em up. :) It can be so much more. . .
    For the record, I grew up on Doom but I'm a roleplayer first and foremost. Just look me up on neverwinterconnections.com for proof (AlexanderFrost) ;)
