New Car Technology

    Well its actually a couple years old. Its not the totally non emmision cars, but it is definitely a step in the right direction.
    The cars are the Honda Civic Hybrid. Around 40 mpg city. Honda also has the Insight which averages 68 mpg.
    Toyota has a version, the Prius, again about 40 mpg. All are around $20,000. It has a fuel cell that never needs to be plugged in. It recharges when the motor is running and the car is moving. As the car comes to a stop, the heat from the brakes is used to recharge the battery.
    The Insight doesn't really have much room. Small hatchback. But the Civic and Prius have as much room as the non-hybrid Civic and the Echo. Insight is a little harder to drive with smaller wheels. Both the Civic and Prius are very smooth, quiet and quite comfortable.
    If you like gadgets and buttons and visual stuff, the Prius has a Batmobile type feel with the console.
    From what I've heard, Toyota is also going to come out with a hybrid version of the Corolla. Honda also has plans for an SUV hybrid.
    Dodge had plans for a hybrid truck, but it only was getting about 2 mpg more. Not much. I've also heard of plans for Ford and Jeep to produce a hybrid.
    The Prius and Civic was doing good from what I could tell of reports overseas and is doing fairly well in the states. Plus, here, you get a tax break for purchasing it!
    Ok, this is kinda funny. I was just doing a search online about hybrids. I found a site that had a survey on it. It was about hybrid cars, would you buy one, etc. For participating in the survey, you got the chance to enter your name in a drawing for a Land Rover! Umm, does anyone else see the irony here?
