Is the thread title wasn't clear enough already, a new Fallout Diary has been released on Bethesda's official Fallout 3 site. This one explains the Brotherhood Of Steel's presence in D.C, and has some nice concept art as well. Find it here.

I wasn't going to, but I'll bite (seeing that I don't think my thoughts on this are going to lead to a ****thread).

I find the story to be plausible and consistent-enough with canon. I also find it to be pretty boring. There are lots of interesting things that can be done with an organisation like the Brotherhood of Steel, but turning them into selfless protectors of the innocent isn't one of them.

Here's Bethesda saying 'We have moral grey areas!' and then setting up a straight out 'good-guy' organisation from one that was previously in a moral grey area.

In addition, knights in shining armour just don't jive with a post-apocalyptic wasteleand. No matter how plausible it might be, it's something that cuts into the atmosphere. This pretty much just relates into the 'boring' comment. Come on, we have enough knights in shining armour in the fantasy dreck that pervades pretty much every cRPG - can't we move on?

Of course, it could be handled well. I won't outright say that the in-game events concerning the Brotherhood are going to suck (though the contents of the demo do nothing to inspire confidence), but the backstory does. Not because it's trampling on Fallout canon, but because it's uninspired and boring.

No worries Aik. It will suck......bad, as a Fallout 3 anyway. There has been very little that Bethsoft showed which leads me to believe that they *know* Fallout.

This would be the perfect example, comparing the brotherhood with the knights of old. Plate mail and warhammers......ugh

Had to bring this back to the top.

Release date scheduled for Fall 2008.

Chech out the site, the artwork is great and the new perk "Grim Reaper's Spirit" is simply awesome. "Whenever you kill an opponent, all actions points are automatically restored." Wow, combine that with Sniper.
