    The Book of Daniel

Did anyone else watch this? From a purely entertainment perspective it wasn't bad, although it took a while for them to hook me. The amount of substance abuse running through the show it more than I generally like and the writing seems a bit uneven, but it's certainly worth another look, if only to get a weekly does of the totally dreamy Aidan Quinn.

My question is something different, tho'. Apparently a significant amount of the reaction (and knee-jerk pre-reaction  ) to this show is that it's anti-Christian. Having watched it I saw a portrayal of the human fallibilities of PEOPLE, several of which happen to be members of the clergy, but certainly no commentary (negative or otherwise) about Christianity itself. Did I miss something, or is this more blather from those thin-skinned people whose faith is so weak that they have to look for reasons to be offended so they can feel self-righteous in objecting to a phantom?

Personally, I rather like the idea of someone having so close a relationship with God that they can have buddy/buddy chats. And don't try to tell me that the scriptwriters are putting inappropriate words into God's mouth, people have been doing that since the Bible was an oral tradition.

I haven't actually seen the show yet, but I'm probably going to...

    Regardless...

Sounds like the typical knee-jerk reaction of the same people who always scream in pain whenever someone offers a show, book, or movie that is in any way thought provoking in a religious context. I.e. "Dogma," "THe Life of Bryan" etc...

Sad. Yes, quite sad, that people don't want to think about their faith anymore, that they live religious lives so fully devoid of theology that anything that even hints of it is deemed sacrelige.
