Next solo class?

OK, so I've run through with a sorc, F/M/T, and a R/C so far ... all easy in the extreme and unique in their own tactics. The R/C was 32/39 by the time I finally hit my pocket plane and so far probably the most fun (imprison is annoying though .. yay shield of archon). Pretty crazy having -20 armor and 250+ health after buffs and whirl winding anything that thinks of putting up a fight (poor poor demogorgy, maybe I need the improved one).

The question I ponder is what class? Archer is tempting but you can't really solo an archer so it'd have to be a duo and I hate the micromanagement needed for parties. Hmm ... monk? Gah, need suggestions ... something fun but also different style than my previous ones hopefully.

Oh, also for you mod-heavy folks. Is tactics soloable from the start for at least some classes? Improved Illyich have to be skipped? (never tried it).

Inquisitor. That would be different enough from your other solos but still foreseeably possible to solo.

That sounds frustratingly interesting really. I don't doubt that it'd be fun but the mazes and imprisons would slaughter you. They can't even buff in the least  except with minor items like ilbratha, ring of air control, etc and that's gonna be dispelled in 5 seconds. Whirlwinds with Carsomyr ARE very powerful for mage killing, but I have no clue how imprison/maze would be handled ... any ideas, cause when it happens, it powerword: reload time. How is PW: stun and confuse gonna be handled? Maybe I just need to play one and see ... *shrug*

    Edit:
Now that I think about it ... what about neg plane prot? (mace I guess .. though you have to chop through vamps just to get to it) toting scrolls of restoration around can be spendy but might be only option till the mace. What about Fear? there's only so many potions of clarity in the game and EVERY mage it seems loves PW: fear. I guess I could steal Keldorn's armor for the free-action early on for stuns and such. If those things can't be solved the game is no fun cause a single stun, a single fear, etc ends it right there.

Bounty Hunter. Hucking traps and retreating, UAI for all that nifty magic stuff like wands and scrolls, and you could even play as Yoshimo through the entire game!

Or, if you want something hard you could try Beastmaster. Guaranteed to make you reload a few times unless you're really good.

Something I've been thinking about lately is an Assassin->Fighter. Dual once you get x7 backstab and UAI. Fairly weak at first, but an utter killing machine later. Never really bothered since an SKed multi F/A would be better and I never found a reason to do it instead of the dozen party ideas I have lined up.

Meh, maybe I'll just do the archer and haul a romantic tank along lol. Hmm, Jaheira or Viccy? Viccy probably the best choice .. well either is a beast later on with the right equipment.

Quick question: is it ease of use allowing me to put 5* in slings? (thought archers couldn't go 5 in slings for some reason) Yes, yes I know slings are crappy later on for the special things since there's no bullets of dispelling or detonation ... but sling of seeking  Add to that the fact that you can basically be Gmaster in 2 missile types by the time you meet jon bon in hell.

I agree with Harbourboy that an Inquisitor would be interesting to solo. With his powerful dispell magic wizards will be easy to kill.Maze can be stopped by MR, imprisonment only by prot.f.magic scroll but you will need it only against Kangaxx. The other mages in the game don't use these spells much and anyway against an inquisitor they won't have the time to use them.

Not necessarily. An archer can solo the game and I am sure there are guys in these boards who have done it.

It is soloable for every class. It's the difficulty that changes.More difficult for fighter-types.

i have done an archer solo, and i havent really played an archer class before that so it took a little time adjusting, but it was well worth it and a nice solo

have you considered a Sorcerer? thats one of my favorites, they're also pure destruction in the end

An assasin is a nice solo as well, and you can dual them or multi with Shadow keeper

There's plenty of mages that maze/imprison my chars all over the place. It would be a very long list if I wrote down all the various places it happens. I never skip Kangaxx and oddly enough, he is never one of the ones I have a problem with imprisons on.

@Balle ... Yeah done the sorc thing. They get super boring by the time you get out of the underdark and already at lvl 31. There's really no challenge to it at all. When you can do ALL of the underdark w/o resting (or wish-resting), yeah a bit too powerful maybe. **oops my bad you HAVE to rest once to advance the story when you talk w/ phaere in the bar

A specialist priest! (the truth wanna solo a Priest of Lathander, wanna compete?)

A bard! Or a cool bard kit from Song&Silence. Bards are soo cute!

Hmm a monk? Tedious at start, but fun in the end. Get oversight special monk HLAs! They rock!

Or get Arcane Fits, a bard kit, who fights as a monk, and casts mage spells to boot! FUN!

    What do you think?
