Is there a level cap at 14th for the start of chp. 5?

Because I recieve no xp. whenever I kill Yaun-ti or anything else at the tree portal, etc. but I think I get quest exp.

I know that you receive less xp for easy encounters, and the aboninations and there yaun-ti buddies are easy to kill, but shouldn't I get some xp? Or do I have to get to some other map/point/quest before I gain xp.

Or is the use of the poison flail a problem?

This problem you face is actually quite famous. It is regconized as a "bug". If you want to change this, there is a mod that you can download somewhere here in Sorcerer's Palace under IWD2.

    it´s not actually a bug...

When you are really high level. the low level critters don~t give you XP.

Try killing an Iron Golem and see if you don~t get the XP (I got 250xp with my party... lol...)

That's why i had the quotation mark. It is a "bug" because it does bug people a lot.

If you want to get XP from all kills, I recommend Weimer's Ease-of-Use Mod. I have installed it, because I get frustrated, if I don't get anything good from battles. And it doesn't unbalance the game.

OK, maybe I am just a sucky player or something, but I feel that the yuan-ti's present enough of a challenge to my party that I should recieve XP for them. And I completely understand the XP system. I have been playing 3E D&D since it came out and DM'ed it in-house and online for the last year and a half. I notice you do get XP for some of the specialized Yuan-ti's, but they are not much more difficult than the 'normal' ones.

But hey, that is just my opinion.
