So what's the meaning behind your first name? Are you defined by the meaning in your name? Have you lived up to it? Either the reasons your parents gave you your name, or the etymology behind it. No posting of your names is necessary.

My first name would define me as passionate, zealous, eager fighter, firm in purpose or belief; characterized by firmness and determination.

My second name would give me the additional definition of, well I don't know how to put it, but it means that God is gracious, kind and merciful. Could have the meaning of "the grace of God".

Funny that. Now if I'd just live up to my names

 

First name means "gift of God".

Second name means "handsome".

Surname means "Spring of Knowledge".

I'm pretty sure I'm not a gift of God, unless God considers people with my temperament/personality a gift. I'm not even going to touch that second one, specifically since 99% of the population is unattractive in my eyes; with my rigid and perfectionist views of beauty, I have no ability to accurately judge such things.

As for the surname, being such a renaissance man and all, most definitely .

I'm a very quiet walker.

 

My name means 'lone ruler'. Fitting meaning, I'm always alone (and like being that way). I also suffer a slight superiority complex so it's actually perfectly fitting.

 

I'm certainly not defined by the meaning of my name. My name (Deniz) means "sea" in English. My family gave me this name after Deniz Gezmis . This name is too heavy for me.

My first name means 'Dweller of the valleys', and I was named after where I was born. I was born in northern england,a nd my name is similar to my username. Try to guess it.

 

My name means 'friend of horses' or 'lover of horses' or something along those lines.

I don't put much time into crap like that though. I bloody hate horses for crying out loud - never been able to trust them.

 

I'm a mighty spear warrior, in name, and in nature. My name fits me perfectly. Now, where did I leave my good going-to-work spear......?

 

My first name is James, which I learned when I was about 12 has connotations of honesty, in reference to one of Christ's disciples (IIRC). Considering the hundreds of lies I've told (and continue to tell) to my parents, I don't think it was all that well deserved.

 

Yet again it's the fates playing tricks on us, oh the pleasures of irony! I'm not too happy of my middle name either since how it's said how christian God tests those He loves. God has a strange sense of humour and so do our parents apparently...

My real name means 'From the land of Eoghan', while Eoghan means 'born from the yew tree' in old gaelic. My name is also very popular with black Americans.

My full name translates as Manly Warrioir of the people of the Light who dwells by a steep hill.

heh My first Name Jonas Christian. i hardly live up to it, seing as Jonas was a prophet (even though he didn't want to be one) and Christian kinda give it self away.

My first name is to do with purity, peace and doves.

I'm not too sure that I'm managing to live up to any of the meanings.

Especially the doves.

 

Like Ilmater's, my name means "Gift of God/Jahwe", so I guess his first name would be Mathew or the like. Mine is a shortened version of the dutch variant. I guess I would be called Mat in England, but most people call me Thijs.
I like to think I am godsent, a gift from God etc. Most people thik otherwise, though.

My second name means Rock (Pieter, after my father)

My surname means nothing. It's a misspelled name after a Dutch city, or so.

My guess is that Barms is called Phillip or something similar (or something else that comes from Phil-Hippus.

 

My first name means "pure", my middle name appears in Ivanhoe and it means "kindly and loved" or "spectacular bounty."

My surname is the name of a small jumping desert rodent of Asia and northern Africa that resemble a mouse with a long tufted tail and very long hind legs.

 

As it happens, my first name is of derived from a Viking word that means a spear fighter.

My name means « Gift of the Lord » Which is written in Hebrew MTY (mem tav yod) which came to Greek as Ματθαίον, to Latin as Matthias and finaly to French as Mathieu ( pronounced / Matjø / ) I can't stand being called Matthew, I hate that name! It sounds awfull! It's a god awfull mockery of my real name.

My last name, I don't know it's meaning.
