For example, you meet a paladin in the temple sewers.
He's on a quest, but you know the quest is horribly difficult for a low level party.
You also know that if you leave it for weeks, the paladin won't leave you. So you do other things with him and come back in the sewers only when you are strong enough, or have enough reflective objects.
    Is it OK or cheesy?

Look at it from the NPC viewpoint. Having recruited you, he is bound to notice that you are not up to the task.

I am sure he will not mind a bit of "training" before you attempt his quest. After all, what use is a dead party to the cause of Good.

It would be cheesy to drop him from the party, having used his skills, and not get the quest done - well if not cheesy then decidedly dishonest; OK if you are evil.

It really depends on the charecter.

Keldron allows you to get away with it since he believes in the goodness of your charecter and is willing for you to become ready for the task.
Korgan on the other hand is selfish and angry and hardheaded enough to leave you to finish on his own.

Some quests do have a time limit on them. But even if they dont, I still cant see the cheesy aspect of doing that? Unless you are trying to argue it from a hardcore rp perspective.... At which point the whole game becomes cheesy since you cant play the game from a pure rp point of view.

I say it's a GAME... just enjoy it.

So not cheesy. I agree, just wanted to know if others disagree. Keldorn understands.
But when you play Korgan this trick, he reminds you from time to time his quest. So you dishonestly tell him it's for tomorrow. Korgan being evil, it seems OK to me to play him this trick. He's well placed to understand I was just using him.
Are there NPCs with whom it just would seem unrealistic?

well, Mazzy when summoned home. Same goes for Jan. These two are summoned due to family emergencies so will want to get back regardless of what you are up to. Still, I'd play the same route if I wanted to. It's a game given right afterall.

Actually, if you're role-playing an evil PC, it would make perfect sense to ignore both Jan and Mazzy when they have their problem and leave them with it while you selfishly move ahead with your own quests. Of course, doing this with a Lawful Good PC is pure metagaming.

You can always find some rationale to justify any action you do in the game, and in any case such things really don't qualify as cheese. Though some do qualify as "out of character", the way I see it. Then again, as Takara pointed out... it's a game, so do whatever you feel like doing and enjoy yourself.

The Unseeing Eye is technically not Keldrons quest. It is a way of introducing him to you.
Keldrons quest deals with his troubles at home. I dont know if anyone has NOT met the guy in Waukeen's Promenade right after leaving Keldron's home.
As such all NPC quests have a timer I guess, so you cant put it off indefinately.
