Not enough portraits/sounds

I dont think there are enough portraits or sounds in our beloved BG2, even though they included the portraits from BG1 also. theres only one good halfling picture, that of montaron from BG1, and he looks too evil to fit into a good character.
most of the good portraits are of NPC's that you can get in your party (example; in BG1 i had a mage with Xans' portrait, and when i recruited him he had the portrait of the fuzzy halfling guy with the fluffy hat!)

Not enough sounds either. they didnt even let you pick from BG1 sounds. theres no good oriental voices, no fancy accents, nothin'.

tell me your opinion!

 

Yup. I was let down when I only saw 1 half-orc picture to choose from and he really doesn't look like one in his avatar either. I think something a little more bulky would have been nice, rather than the same look a human has. The potraits are little, and I didn't like the fact you could choose between the NPC ones for your own. I mean, why would you want to use the picture of Anomen and THEN get him in your party? Two of the same people? What the..?! I think a little more effort into the portraits would have made the character generation a bit better.

Hehe. Yeah, I'm with ya Sylvus.. nothin' better to do when at work than post on message boards. I'm getting paid for this?! HELL YEAH!

As for the original point, I was sorely disappointed by the lack of portraits and sounds in BGII... especially after Icewind Dale had, at the very least, a good helping of different voices to choose from. I would have been furious at the lack of choices, if this wasn't such an awesome game in every other aspect.

I know there are a ton of sites out there with pics, but does anyone know of any sites that create new voices?

 

But, was it just me or did it seem like they put a lot of halfling pictures in IWD? I have to say that IWD did have the best pictures and I wish I could get a hold of them to import them into BG2. I have plenty of sounds, but not really any good pictures.

 

If you go to the TEAMBG site, there is a link to mega portraits. as for the sounds I enjoyed the selection from IWD, especially when you clicked on the characters alot and they got irate at you.

 

Even if the voices from IWD were "hamming it" a bit, I much prefer the variety and choice compared to BG 2. And just one new non-NPC portrait? That's pathetic, really. I wanted a handsome elf mage, but Xan's portrait isn't handsome, so I started a cavalier with the tired old generic blond human male fighter/paladin/cleric portrait from BG 1.

I had a set of Bruce Campbell, Army of Darkness sounds for my main guy in BG1, but that has gone bye bye. I'd love to find those again.
