[IMG] This coming Tuesday folks, both Star Wars Attack of the Clones and Extended Version of Fellowship of the Ring come out.

I can't say much about the FOTR except that it will have extra content, so someone else can fill us in on what exactly that is.

But I can tell you about AOTC. This will rock your DVD player! For the first time a major live action film has been captured and created on its orginal source to DVD. What does this mean? AMAZING Picture quality. Finally you will see the true power of DVD. The sound effects will knock your socks off too. I can't wait to hear those sonic charges go off. 6 hours of bonus features are added. 8 deleted scenes have been added:

    1) The second scene of the movie was supposed to be Padme showing up in the Senate and surpirising everybody after Palpatine had just announced her death. So this first extra scene comes after the the opening scene and before the scene in Palpatine's office where he assigns Obi-Wan and Anakin to protect Padme. It really adds to fact that she is forefronting the opposition to the creation of the Military Act which will give the Republic an army.

    2) During Obi-Wan's investigation of the dart used to kill Zam, he inspects the dart in the Jedi Temple Analysis Room with some new droids, this was referenced in Obi-Wan's conversation with Dexter Jettster, but is now added.

    3) Obi-Wan and Mace Windu shared an additional conversation concerning Anakin and "the Prophecy" in the Jedi Temple Hangar, now this great conversation and awesome set is now available to us.

    4) There's an extended arrival on Naboo, where Anakin and Padme talk more about what's been going on in their lives for the past ten years. This is just after the refugee ship lands and before they go to talk to Queen Jamillia, the new Queen of Naboo.

    5) The visit to Padme's parent's house has been added. The point of this scene if for Anakin to see how Padme has a family who has it all made, when later he goes to Tatooine to find his mother, and well we all know how that goes. This improves the romance because we see why they fall in love with each other so quickly. Anakin has no family now and he needs Padme to fill that spot for him.

    6) Padme's bedroom is added in, now don't get any crazy ideas ;) . This is just a continuation of the previous added scene.

    7) After Anakin and Padme are caught on Geonosis, it went right into the Arena battle. Now, Dooku has some words with Anakin and Padme. I'm all for this as I wanted more Dooku.

    8) A brief scene where Poggle the Lesser (the leader of the insect-like Geonosians) holds Anakin and Padme on trial for spying and sentences them to death in the Arena. And then we go onto the Arena.

There's some great documentaries and behind the scenes too. It's going to be awesome!

    Rat bastages.

It's stuff like this that really gives you a bad impression of companies. Their marketing guys just KNOW we'll all suck this stuff up. They always release a DVD really, really fast. And they sell out on them.

Then, in 6 month haitus, they have 4 or 5 enginers working on adding all the "extra" scenes. Then they turn right around and double their DVD sales, for a mere $6 million in editing costs.

And what bugs me even more, is the fact that other companies try this too, to different degrees of success. Remember the Playstation 2 debacle?

Lawyers, used car salesmen, high school coaches, and MBA's.

They are the top slots on my list.

    I didn't say I wasn't going to buy it.

I just said I hate the fact they know how to play me like that.

Now you know they're doing that, you can wait until this time next year to buy the Two Towers DVD, instead of getting it when it first comes out...

That's interesting, I thought it was well known that two DVD LotR FotR releases were in the works and that the second release would have the extra film footage...

[IMG] I watched the deleted scenes from AotC...I can understand why they were deleted. They didn't add very much to the story, and they were very slow, plodding scenes. They give a little more background, but otherwise, they were good calls by Lucas to leave them out...

*** Best part of deleted scenese - Padme' at her parents house...She's wearing a hot dress!!! ;) ***

I can't wait to see LotR on dvd!!! I read Tal's link above - It also comes with a free ticket to the Two Towers for the week it's released!! WhooHoo!!!

Yeah the deleted scenes aren't action at all. But then again AOTC has plenty of action in it already. And I think deleted scenes 1 and 3-7 add a lot to the story. Scenes 2 and 8 seem the most extraneous to me.

Man this is such a sweet movie, and I can watch it over and over and over  :p
