    [IMG] Hi,
I have SOA with TOB plus latest patch and baldurdash fixes and have a question regarding NPC comments during an SOA section of the story.
Below is a question containing a spoiler if you haven't finshed chapter 3 yet.

I was in the spellhold maze trying to get out and came across bodhi and some other vamps towards the end, she chatted away and then attacked.

My PC changed into the slayer - freaked me out at first, I thought one of the vamps had polymorphed me - then I saw the text come up and things became a little clearer.

Anyway, this freaked bodhi out and she ran off. My PC then proceeded to lay in the rest of my party, they said nothing!, I got them to run off down the corridor and get in a room and close the door while I tried to keep my PC away. Anyway, no one died and very soon afterwards my PC changed back.
When he rejoined the rest of the party no one said anything - given the richness of the NPC dialog so far I was really surprised I didn't get a pile of comments from them about my momentary change into the Bhaal avatar (according to my journal!).
My party consists of minsc, aerie, jaheria, keldorn and imoen.

Are the NPCS having a think about what to say and will I be buried in comments soon or is this lack of dialog at what seems to be a pretty critical part of the story normal?

    Cheers,

    WittyNewt

I also found this happened to me (before I had throne of bhall, or any patches) but Aerie (who I was romancing) said "you...you changed into a monster" which was still not wonderful. Anyway I hope this is helpful.

    Cheers, Void.

I think I remember getting comments after I next slept.

I'm sure Imoen is used as a plot device to fill you in on a lot of stuff, such as the slayer (apparently she didn't skive off lessons in Candlekeep like you did :D)I'm sure she's meant to say something about the slayer and what it is, and then speculate on why she can;t turn into it. And the main squeeze says something.

    [IMG] Hi,

I just replayed the bodhi/slayer bit, but this time kept my party in the same room as the slayer(me), tricky keeping them separated at first, no one was "slayed" though.

This time when I changed back to normal Imoen commented on it and told me what was going on. Maybe putting my party in a separate room caused the lack of comments.

Jaheira (my romance partner) did not say anything, however, maybe this is because I seem to have completed the romance (she has her harper pin and I told to wait until we had sorted out Irenicus) and she hasn't said anything to me for ages.

Anyway, I didn't get much further with first save before posting this enquiry so I think i'll replay with this new save where Imoen has commented on my new form.

    Cheers,

    WittyNewt

They're supposed to comment, but if they're too far away from your PC, they won't. This happens a lot in the game--if an NPC isn't within visual range of your character when something happens, they won't say their piece. So if you've run them all away from your PC, they won't say anything.

In this particular case, only one NPC gets a comment. So Jaheira won't say anything if Imoen already did. It's too bad, as some of the NPCs have some hilarious responses but you'll never get to see them unless they're the only person in your party.

Your romance partner will have plenty to say about the situation after you sleep the party once, though. (-: Try it.

    [IMG] Hi

Thanks for the info Tjekanefir, I'll make sure my PC is within visual range of my party in future so taht I don't miss out on any dialog.

Hmmm, well I will play for a couple of hours tonight. I'll get them upto the point I stopped at yesterday - after the tester jugdement and rest them and see what Jaheira has to say for herself.

    Cheers,
