[IMG] I would like people's opinion's on the various NPC mods out there. A lot of them are really buggy, so I am loathe to install them. The only one I currently have is Kelsey (who is great, and appears like he always belonged in the game, but why doesn't he have identify as one of his first level spells?).

I understand that there is also a female sorceress (although that just seems like another Kelsey - but possibly with identify).

Solaufein (sp?) is also available. I've heard mixed reviews on that one, although the one problem there is you wouldn't get him until towards the end of SoA.

Also, are there any non-buggy romance mods?

Kelsey, Solaufein and Tashia are almost bug-free, if installed without non-WeiDU mods. Solaufein is nice, but as said, you can get him at the earliest in the end of chapter 5.

Valen also has only few bugs, but you can't romance her and many have said that she's too powerful.

I haven't tried other NPCs mods yet.

Valen is actually way overpowered, even with the daylight penalties. Sola is good, although he too gets overpowered. If you don't mind using the console, you can spawn him whenever you want.

I installed Nalia and Imoen's romances, in my present game I discovered that Nalia's romance has too many bugs, first, when you get to some John the dialog just doesn't start, then, when you go to the keep to collect your money, you get the "appears to be busy" message with this guy who tells you if someone's looking for you (I don't remember his name). So far, Imoen's romance looks good, no bugs yet, but I don't know what will happen once you rejoin her to the party.
Tashia romance is stil going son I don't know yet.
And Kelsey got stuck in some point (that's why I posted "Kelsey appears to be busy".
Other than that, I must say that Kelsey and Tashia are the best non-over-powered NPCs around.

If you read Kelsey's backstory at all, if anything his spell selections are more optimal than it should be. There's supposed to be a sense about him that he didn't know how to shape his spell selections at first, so he wasn't "optimizing for BG2 powergaming," so to speak.

(which is not to say that he doesn't have plenty of spells good for killing things, but when people say "spell X would have been better", I say "yes, but that's not the point.")

Besides, Glasses of ID work great, and I prefer saving my spell slots for magic missile or a gamble on a chromatic orb instakill. :)

I believe FW is working on a WeiDU version of the Nalia Romance. That should be a lot more stable than Arnel's. Rowan and Keto (if they ever get finished) should also be good NPCs.

Most mods written with WeiDU are relatively bug-free, and are all compatible with each other.

[IMG] I heard that Tashia isn't compatable with a couple of MODs. If you want to make sure it's compatible don't you put J# before the file names?

[IMG] Am I remembering correctly that the Imoen romance mod was exclusive? That you could not run the concurrent romance mod if you're romancing her?

    (which is sick, but still)

8people, no. J# is a naming convention used by Forgotten Wars to ensure that their files won't overwrite anyone elses.

IIRC, Tashia was written using IDU, meaning that as long as you install it first and then WeiDU mods second, you shouldn't have a problem running it.

No, Tashia's a WeiDU mod, there are just some weird bits of code in it or some things that don't play well with shortcut mods like the "Shorter Cutscenes" patch. It's generally fine with many other mods, though.
