NWVault's Maximus has posted part two of the wrap-up of his Neverwinter Nights 2 related visit to Obsidian's headquarters. Today's part deals with the toolset, gameplay, the official campaign and some more. Here is a snip:

After checking out the demo, Obsidian Entertainment's Lead Designer for NWN2, Ferret Baudoin, then introduced me to John Lee, the second of several designers brought into the team after Ferret. One of the tasks Ferret and John had to do very early on, was start designing the game from the ground up while the rest of the team was wrapping up Knights of the Old Republic II. John is incredibly funny, cracking a joke a minute and he sits next to Charles Mead, Obsidian's NWN2 lead scripter, who gave me the toolset demo. Unfortunately due to approvals being needed, I couldn't take any camera shots of the toolset in use.

The toolset has been totally rewritten and it's going to make module authors very happy from what I've seen, let alone what it will look like when it ships. There are so many new things, that I will do my best to describe in detail, what it's now like. The first obvious thing is that the windows are resizeable and moveable to anywhere on the screen. So you can layout your working area any which way you like, just like the developers do themselves. Some like certain windows large while others like it small, a lot of which depends on what they are doing for the game. Artists will have layouts that are different than programmers or those doing conversations. Want to have your preview window on a second monitor? No problem, as dual monitors are supported as well. The layouts are virtually unlimited. Charles' layout had a large preview window on the main monitor with several smaller windows surrounding it and even more windows on a second monitor.

Don't know about you but it sounds awfully interesting to me. I hope to find out more about the good ideas and solutions from the KotOR series being implemented in Neverwinter Nights 2.
