EDIT: Oh, Colorado just went to Obama too - so he's over 300 now. And they just announced that McCain has called Obama to concede.

As a side note, what happens now to Obama's and Biden's Senate seats? Obama's term was not supposed to end until 2010, and Biden won re-election as a senator for Delaware today, so that goes through 2014!

And considering they are both sitting Senators, would it be disrespectful to address them as Senators Obama and Biden, as opposed to President and Vice-President elect?

 

Their state parties select replacements, just like when a senator dies.

I was cringing throughout his whole speech, hoping he wasn't going to get assassinated.

 

Nope saber i am talking about 40-50%(the only reason it is gonna be that low is a sh!tload will be living on the government dole) of the population. Just watch once he & the dems get there little pet projects going.

 

Wow, just watched McCain's conceding speech. Thank god he did not show this side during the election, then it would have been a lot closer I think. I am even starting to think that McCain is the maverik he has claimed at heart and that maybe Obama would not be amiss in maybe offering him somekind of cabinet spot.

Well, first off...stocks will plummet. Then, once he gets his Employee Free Choice Act, unemployment will skyrocket to numbers not seen since the Great Depression. He'll manage to screw up in Iraq and Afghanistan. The US Dollar will lose any and all value. Every country that doesn't currently hate the US *will*. We've got a fun 4 years ahead of us.

Yup, change has come...unfortunately, it's not the change we need. Don't get me wrong, I've felt this country was screwed the moment both candidates were chosen. However, I still feel that McCain would have been the lesser of the two morons...but then he went and chose one hell of a moron as his running mate. I couldn’t bring myself to vote this time around. Obama will screw everyone from day one…but if McCain would have been elected, he probably would have died of old age only a few months in to his presidency – leave Palin to run the country.

Canada doesn't look like such a bad place to move to right now...if only it wasn't so damn cold!

I think part of what is being lost in this is that both the house and senate have democratic majorities too now. I don't like that.

McCain's a good guy and I wish him the best... I think he'd make a seriously awesome grandpa.

This election doesn't change the fact that the economy is screwed. It doesn't change the fact that there is no right answer for the Middle East. It doesn't change the fact that even though countries are aware of the damage that is being done to the environment they can't stop the damage.

Change is not something that can happen in 4 years, or even 8 years. The Change that Obama is talking about is naught but a pipe dream. The only real change has to be in the hearts and minds of the people. Until ideas of partisan politics take a backseat to the good of the nation, and the focus is on solutions, not conflict, there will be no change.

D'uh, I hadn't had my coffee when I typed that, just read it and it really makes no sense does it?? Lets face it though hun, there aren't really any countries left that have the USA on their Christmas card list!

 

Look, Obama wants to win a second term, I'm sure. So he's not going to screw the country for kicks. And change is incremental -- it has to start somewhere. I'm willing to give Obama until mid july to see if he is actually able to wallk the walk, even if that walk will only be a few steps.

Oh, I'm also proud to admit that I was wrong -- America did not turn out to be racist as I feared -- obviously the last minute "but he's black" vote didn't hose Barack, and for that I'm grateful.
