[IMG] I was fighting the demi-lich on level 4 of WK, with my solo sorcerer, and gated in a planetar to help out. Sure enough, with in two seconds, the demi-lich imprisoned him. (I had hoped he might be immune.) Then I tried to summon another one but got the message that only one celestial being can be summoned at a time. So, for the game's purposes, when imprisoned, a Planetar is still summoned, making another summoning impossible.

Does anyone know...Is this permanent? Would you have to cast freedom if you wanted to summon another Planetar/Deva? Or would things return to normal when the duration of the Summons wore expired and the Planetar Unsummoned?

On a related but slightly different note:

Does anyone know the exact differences between a Planetar and Fallen Planetar? I mean besides allignment and color. Are there any differences in gameplay? I remember checking spells and think both have the same number/kind, but what about stats?

I'd be interested to know this, too.

I've checked, and there is a difference between Divas and Fallen Divas. I haven't tested whether the Divas have better combat abilities to compensate for this, but the Fallen Divas have slightly better casting abilites (specifically, the Fallen can cast blade barrier 3 times, whereas the normal can only cast it once). Divas speak when you give them commands, too, whereas Fallen Divas do not.

[IMG] Have you waited for the Planetar to expire (4 rounds + 1 round/level)?

Try to wait and see if it unsummons, if it doesn't I guess you have to get a scroll of freedom.

They are the same, though Planatar and Deva (Fallen Planatar and Fallen Deva) are not.

    Stats for Planatar(& Fallen Planater):

    Race: Planatar(DarkPlanatar)
    Gender: Both
    Alignment: Chaotic Good (Chaotic Evil)
    XP: 20000

    Str:19
    Dex:15
    Con:14
    Int:16
    Wis:16
    Cha:18

    110HP
    Base AC: -7
    Crushing/Piercing/Missile/Slashing: 0
    THAC0: 5
    Nr. of attacks: 3

    Resistances:
    Fire: 100
    Magical Fire: 50
    Cold: 100
    Magical Cold: 100
    Electricity: 100
    Acid: 0
    Magic: 75
    Magical fire: 50
    Slashing: 10
    Crushing: 10
    Piercing: 10
    Missile: 10

    Saving Throws:
    Death:3
    Wands:5
    Poly/Petri:4
    Breath:4
    Spells:6

Planatars are carrying silver sword (modified one) and a ring that grants them immunity to +2 and lower(or +3 and lower, not quite sure)

Planatars have a VERY impressive spell list, that by far exceeds the Deva's spell list. 6 different 7-level priest spells! (Globe of Blades, Earthquake, Fire Storm, Holy Word, Symbol Fear & Death). Alongside that both Planatars and Devas have some minor spells that aren't worth a whole lot.

    Stats for Deva(& Fallen Deva):

    Race: Solar (anti-solar)
    Gender: Both
    Alignment: Chaotic Good (Chaotic Evil)
    XP: 20000

    Str:19
    Dex:19
    Con:14
    Int:16
    Wis:16
    Cha:20

    110HP
    Base AC: -7
    Crushing/Piercing/Missile/Slashing: 0
    THAC0: 5
    Nr. of attacks: 2

    Resistances:

    Magical Fire: 50
    Cold: 100
    Magical Cold: 100
    Electricity: 100

    Magic: 70
    Slashing: 10
    Crushing: 10
    Piercing: 10
    Missile: 10

    Saving Throws:
    Death:3
    Wands:5
    Poly/Petri:4
    Breath:4
    Spells:6

Devas are carrying mace of disruption +2 and a ring that grants them immunity to +1 and lower(or +2 and lower, not quite sure)

Devas have Globe of Blades as the only level 7 priest spell (and high level spell in general).

From this, I would personally prefer a planatar any time, because of a higher immunity level and a MUCH MORE powerful spell list.

[IMG] I wonder why Devas and Planetars are so vulnerable to acid. What's up with that? Immunities to much else except acid?

IIRC, I actually got a message saying a Deva could not be summoned again within 24 hours. This was after my Deva died vs. being imprisoned.

Fallen Planetar has one major advantage over Planetar - it regenerates at 4 hit points per round compared to 1 HP/round.

Other minor difference is in spell book - Planetar can cast Dispel Magic, but this is useless anyway since Planetar's are level 0.
