Just curious if anyone here will be attending the Olympics? The Utah landscape is incredible but I think it'll be funny to see the culture clash between the Utah power brokers (read Mormons, who are a distinct minority) and the influx of party-goers. I've got a lot of ski bum friends there who are frequently frustrated. If not who plans on watching?
As an aside, I've seen numerous complaints about American patriotism on the board. The U.S. Olympic Committee is going out of their way to be neutral hosts (cancelling traditional fly-bys, removing all American flags from U.S. Olympic Committee buildings in Salt Lake etc.) but apparently 80% of the U.S. plans on watching the games and U.S. patriotism is likely to be at a high matched only perhaps by the 1980 Miracle on Ice. So, you may want to close your eyes, or plug your ears for the "U.S.A." chants.

I'll watch some, but I don't plan on going. It's going to be a zoo I'm sure. The most activity Utah's ever seen.

It's much to cold for me there. I'll just watch some of it behind the tv, where it is nice and warm.

  4. Nah, but when there's that Olympics in China in 2008, I'm sure to go. National integrity and all that, I suppose. :)

Because of where I am located, I will not go to the olympics. Going to watch most of it on TV though (but it will be going at night here :().

What's the time difference? 6 or 7 hours to UK 7 or 8 CET? Something like that anyway I suppose.

Suits me fine, I'll get hom from work and the skiing starts... Lovely!

And yeah, I'll be watching. Norway will win a few medals, Sweden will not, and their newspapers will bemoan the fact that Norway is better. Again. :p

Seriously though, winter sport. Thats where it's at.

I will watch the games at home as the distance is way too much to travel to see them

Viking, I dont think either one of Sweden and Norway will take many medals this olympic. But you have to admit that Elofsson looks good.

[IMG] Elofsson might look good, but he sure can't ski :D. As always, Norway will take lots of medals. Perhaps not as many gold as we used to during the 90s.
