[IMG] An OotS party has been done, probably several times by now, but what about a Linear Guild party? All would be naturally evil, but there's a bit more to discuss with these characters than the more well-known personalities of the OotS party.

    Nale - LE Human F/M/T
SK'd from half-elf or even just left that way. Unfortunately cannot be a Fighter/Sorceror/Thief.

    Thog - Half-Orc Barbarian
Is he even smart enough to have an alignment? :p

    Zz'dtri - Drow Sorcerer?
I believe there was something on the OotS boards where the Giant said he envisioned Zz'dtri as a sorceror, but it's second or third-hand information.

Yikyik - CE Kobold (would take some work, but eminently doable) F/T?
No info on class that I know of. Set as CE because of Rich's commentary in the book 'Dungeon Crawlin' Fools" about Yikyik being a near-duplicate of Belkar because that's what he'd hate most.

    Sabine - Demon/Devil Rogue?
Arguably the hardest. Seems to be generic outsider or something like that, and I'm not familiar with them.

    Hilgya - CE/CN Dwarven Cleric
Loki is the goddess of Chaos and Flames, so a chaotic alignment is a must. Probably evil, but having another CE on the team when there's likely already two or three others...eh.

    So, your thoughts?

Yes he must be a sorc. since that's whats he is "cloned" to be. Anyway it's my interpretation of OotS

But it's a great idea Felinoid! Have you ever done a pure OotS party?

No, I've never done an OotS-themed party. In fact, I'm mostly brainstorming this to get it out of my head, while producing an interesting discussion as a bonus. I don't need another party idea to add to the score I've already got. ;)

Oh, and as for why I think Yikyik isn't a ranger...well, first of all, kobolds cannot become rangers according to the 2e Complete Book of Humanoids, so that puts me off a little, though no more so than Belkar. But most importantly, Yikyik only uses ONE sword, unlike Belkar's two daggers. Without even a shield to help AC, this would be simply nonsense for a ranger, so I think he must be some other class. A Fighter/Rogue comes closest to ranger without actually being ranger.

Using the 2e books to determine what the OotS characters are isn't helpful since everything converted to 3.5e in the first episode

Feel like pointing out that Loki is a male deity. :p

    @BTA:
Yeah, but this is BG2 we're talking about; a 2e game (mostly  ). That makes 2e source materials fair judging if you're already trying to convert it to 2e.

    @Dendri:
Yeah, I was afraid of that. But I just can't shake how feminine Loki looks in the comic. Red hair + a cape + leather armor = looks like Haley

I am not sure if Sabine is a demon or devil though, Haley did not know which arrow to shoot, cold iron or silver or it was something else?

Plus she has a energy (level) draining attack IIRC, which reminds me Valen (mod NPC) for some reason. :p

If you're going to SK Nale, make him a Fighter/Thief/Enchanter, since he's supposed to be a Sorcerer who specialises in Enchantment spells.

How about a party based on the "new" Linear Guild? That would save you the trouble of figuring out how to recreate Yikyik :)

New, oh they later adopted an half-elf mage boy, instead of drow huh? Are you up to that chapter yet, Felinoid or did I give you a spoiler, if so, I am sorry!

And make Helga CN, not evil, she is not THAT evil. But surely not trusthworthy.

Yes, but that also runs into the much larger problem of having absolutely no idea who two of the three new members are. It's a lot easier to figure out Yikyik than to figure out his currently unrevealed replacement. You might as well try to stat the Creature in the Darkness, except that even that indeterminate thing has a personality. (Though believe me, when they finally show I'll probably be on that eventually too. ;) )

The suggestion about making Nale an Enchanter is a good one, though. You could use my "Imoen as a Conjuror" mod with SK to give him the appropriate bonus spells for being an Enchanter (just changing the kit field won't do it). Plus, that puts Evocation spells out of his reach when Zz'dtri is probably going to be chock full of them as a Sorc.

    EDIT:
No need to worry about me, boy, I'm fully versed in OotS lore.

I thought Sabine was a succubus. I suppose this includes all of Rick's work; web comics, books and magazine comics.

Yeah, I've seen various posts on the boards about things like "because she has bat wings she has to be a succubus", but I wanted to leave it open in case other people could provide more arguments either way. :) And yes, all source material (i.e. stuff by Rich Burlew) is admissable.

Woops. Completely forgot about that bit.

Just thought of something... if you're going to have Zz'dtri as a Sorceror, can you give him any fighter levels first? After all he's supposed to dual-wield his scimitars, and I don't think Sorcerors can do that (or even single-wield a scimitar for that matter)

No, sorcerors can't be multi or dual; it's a limitation of the engine. Dual-wielding, OTOH, works just fine for just about anybody (monks being the one exception I can think of). Just don't expect to actually hit anyone. ;)

I suppose you could cheat a bit and give him a couple of proficiency points in 2-weapon style and in scimitars.. It is cheating, but it's how the character is after all.

Proficiency points are not a problem since a Sorceror can't even equip a scimitar...
But you could make two special scimitars which would look like scimitars and feel like scimitars but be used as daggers (which mages can dual wield even if they are useless with them).
The scimitars are "standard issue" it doesn't look as if Zz'dtri use them that much anyway...

And now that we do know who the other two are, let's get going on that, shall we?

Nale, Sabine, & Thog - unchanged

    Pompey - Half-Elven Conjurer
It's pretty clear by the strip he gets introduced in what his specialty is. I may not be remembering it right, though, so feel free to correct me on that with a link. :)

Leeky Windstaff - NE Gnomish Druid
There's no way you can not SK Leeky and still remain true to the character; a gnomish cleric just would not do. Speaking for 2e PnP, a gnome could still be a priest of a nature deity (even an evil one), leading to a character almost identical to Leeky.

Yokyok - Kobold F/T. Following in daddy's footsteps, I believe.

    Thoughts?

I think Pompey is indeed a conjurer, the exact opposite of Vaarsuvius. Vaarsuvius prefers direct damage/insta kill spells a lot, while this guy mainly summons...centipedes and likes buff-type spells! Bah, he is a weakling. :p

Tell you what, I heard from some place that Vaarsuvius stands for 'mount Vesuves', and Pompey is 'Pompei', got the clue? In the end, Vaarsuvius will most likely really kick the hell out of that Pompey, IMHO, he may even be killed by her/him. Oh I want to see that scene! Let's wait and see, things are sure getting interesting!
