You can have a Drow Paladin of Helm[8]/Fighter[6]/Watcher of Helm[16] with stats like 18-10-16-06-14-16.
Since she will get +1Str and +1Wis from the Lost Followers quest you can decrease these and put points in Char.

Ranger or Fighter are generally mix-in classes, so again these could be given to a Drow or Human - Cleric or Druid.

If you have only one Mage then take a generalist. If any of your other guys is a special case with a few mage levels, then he can be a specialist.

If you are going to have more than 4 members in your party take a Bard for the war-chant of Sith.
Make at least one of your front-liners TN to CE so they can use the 'Massive Halberd of Hate' if you dont find the 'Massive Greataxe of Fire'.

A pure sorcerer is never a bad move. Use this character as your bombardier to rain fire upon your enemies. Just make sure you choose spells that will last the distance (as your sorcerer can't change the spells he learns).

    Paladin(10)/Sorcerer(x)
I love this character! He is a pretty decent fighter and he can reach level 20 as a sorcerer so that means 3 level 9 spells. But until that time, the sorcerer gives you goodies like mirror image, fireshields and tenser's transformation.
Good stats: (STR DEX CON INT WIS CHA)
    16 10 14 12 12 16
You need 12 INT for Concentration and Spellcraft if you're not human (mine is drow). 16 Charisma may seem a little low, but you can boost it when you level up. The same goes for strength. These are actually not my stats, because I gave up spellcasting (WIS 4) in favor of dualwielding (it's not that powerful, but it's cool) and strength.

Anyway, if you want a real paladin (not sorcerer), you could dump INT and boost some other stats. In that case I'd also advice you to take four levels of fighter for Weapon Specialisation.

I really wouldn't advice taking a fulltime ranger. They're the weakest of the fighterclasses (paladins, fighters and rangers). They get dualwielding, but with the number of feats the fighter gets, that's rendered obsolete. They get some spells, but not really good ones and they get reacial enemies (this sucks too). At least the paladin gets lay on hands, cleric spells, holy smite and turn undead. And paladins can use the Holy Avenger.

Anyway, if you're set on that idea, here's what I'd recommend:
    Wood elf Ranger
    18 20 18 3 16 3 (I think)

The problem I have with Paladins is that they are "goody-too" shoes. They turn down rewards. I had forgot this when creating my current party and was going to do a Paladin 3/Sorceror X and have him as the main communicator. Needless to say, he's getting dropped and I'm going to do something else instead. I would like my Rogue 6/Monk X to be my main talker, but he has the same problem. You would think mixing in some Rogue levels would elivate the goodness of the Monk, but it doesn't, oh well.

Refusing rewards isn't that big a deal because none of the refusable rewards are that good. Plus, you can still get the Moonblade of Selune even if you are a Paladin or Monk (if you say the right things).

Well, I'm sticking my foot in my mouth, I've decided to add a Pally in my new party. Just going to try to keep him from doing the talking. I like being rewarded for my actions ;)
