[IMG] I'm exploring the sewers under the temple district for the Cult of the Unseeing Eye Quest and ran accross a group of people demanding 1000GP to pass, and of course I'm not going to pay. But I'm not surviving the resulting battle either. :(

I've tried the battle from every angle and threw every area effect spell and dispell type magic at them, but it allways ends badly. I'm still in Chap. 2 and have only done the slaves quest in the Copper Coranet, Nalia's stronghold quest, and the harpers quests up to where Jaheria leaves (I'm waiting for her to return). Is this another "impossible" encounter for my party, like when I stumbled upon the secret door at the Inn by the city gates and got my butt kicked by a lich before I even knew what one was :(?

Any tips for me? Or should just go around and wait until I have a higher level party before I take on that encounter?

I would say do Trademeet/Druid Grove, the Umar Hills/Temple Ruins, and Windspear Hills first. The Unseeing Eye is no picnic that's for sure, and I think that's why they put that group in your way. If you can't handle them, you probably can't handle the Unseeing Eye quest either...

As for tips, take out the magic user at the back as quickly as possible. If you have a thief sneak back there and backstab him! :)

Indeed a VERY powerfull group, use haste cast a cloudkill and move away so you don;t have to kill them all at once...

The party has some excellent items. 2 full plates +1 (worth a few thousand when you sell it) and some other items that are worth much money.

[IMG] One of my favorite items from that group (and Korgan's too) is that throwing axe that returns to your hands :D The speed factor on that thing is great. Cast free action and resist fear spells to prevent the mages from taking out any of your characters, that should help. Turn the tables, cast Horror or Hold Person, or even Web on them.

OK, I was able to clear the rest of this area out no problem, but I'll try the other quests first before going further on with the Unseeing Eye. Keldorn won't get pissed if I put off this quest off for a bit, will he? (I just added him and booted Nalia)

That party is hard indeed. But I went there early in the game with some confusion spells. And they got nailed!

Have you ever got Haer'Dalis in party?
Have you ever found Wand of Wonders?

In Temple District sewers, between hidden doors to two locations containing treasures above, dwells that damned party!

Cast remove fear on your party haste them up, and attack the magic-users, true seeing is handy and breach (lvl 5 mage spell) the mage, cast Hold person on the dwarves, leave the archer, confusion/chaos works here also great.
I'll hope that this is of any use to you!

I like summoning creatures, like fire elementals, and casting Improved Invisibility on them, along with wizard eye and sending those back near the spellcasters to whack on them while I bring my tanks up front to bash on the dwarves.

[IMG] WhooHoo! Party in the sewers! Party in the sewers! Party in the...Oh, wait. Oh the PARTY in the sewers.....

That's a pretty tough fight...You may want to make sure have a strong party before you go up against them. When you attack, attack from the west - I did that...And took their spellcasters out fairly quickly.

The hardest part I had with them is that they kept casting fear on my party. As far as the unseeing eye quest, I had some difficulty with it but I did it without killing that group. Just avoid the north intersection. I finished the quest, got a few levels up then beat them. Domination works really well.

[IMG] Have a cavalier casting his protection from fear and lead your party into a glorious victory!

Seriously: I picked up Kheldorn in the sewers when I was at lvl-8 with my cavalier. I cleaned the sewers and went to waukeens promenade to get some stuff for Kheldorn like: The light crossbow of speed, potions of dexterity, good bolts. I also resupplied the rest of my party.

I attacked from the center (for there is this room to where you can withdraw, avoiding to get hit by flying battleaxes ;) ) with my cavalier (flail +2), Minsc (sword of chaos), Jaheira (sling +2), Nalia (bow of the tuigan & wand of cloudkill), Kheldorn (light crossbow of speed) and Anomen (sling +2). My party prepared for battle, using our potions and protective spells.

I placed Minsc and my cavalier first line (using thge "guard" function - gives you the best attack/ defence initiative) and the rest of my party behind, ready to provide supporting fire/ spells. My cavalier went in, refused to pay and the fight began; he withdrew to his position at Minsc´s side and the following enemies were decimated by missile fire until they reached my frontline (Minsc swithced over to the chaos sword then). Jahiera summoned insects (lvl-4 spell) repeatedly and it worked great to disturb enemy magic). I redirected my missile fire to support my frontliners at need.

All in all it was a pretty short fight and though my frontliners, especially Minsc took some heavy blows, they held positions and finally started the counterattack to kill the surviving enemies, a cleric and a mage.

This coordinated rigid defence is one of my most successful tactics and worked equally good against earth colossi, trolls, mindflayers, drow and what you like (of course you have to change it to meet the tactical situation/ location).
It could be useful to summon skelettons, elementals or animals to support/ replace the frontliners or to seal the alternate ways of approach. I didn´t use this tactic for it isn´t glorious enough for a cavalier :D

Weird, I didn't see anyone suggesting you can actually go *around* them :p

The sewer area looks like a wheel, just don't go counter-clockwise and you'll avoid meeting them. That's what happened to me the first time I went there ;)

  18. [IMG] Go around them????

What kit are you playing--the Panty-Bandit?

I didn't climb down into no stinkin' sewers to go around ANYBODY.

    :)
