Hi all, I aim to make this an interesting thread of oddities. The way this “book” works is that I’ll take a theme and ask 10 questions on it once every so often. The first set of questions I’d like you to do has the theme of “power”. You must answer each one WITH REASONING (most important), in each case the question is referring to the ENTIRE BG Saga unless it is specified otherwise.

    1. Which character (that charname meets) do you consider the most powerful in terms of social/political status?
    2. Which character (that charname meets) do you consider the most powerful in terms of military power (i.e. the size of his/ her army)?
    3. Which character (that charname meets) do you consider the most powerful in terms of their individual power (i.e. like being a Level 20 Dragon, a Level 40 Mage etc)?
    4. Who would you say the most EVIL character is (that charname meets)?
    5. Which is the most powerful organization (e.g. Red Wizards, Iron Throne etc.) in BG1?
    6. Which is the most powerful organization (e.g. Shadow Thieves, Flaming Fist etc.) in BG2?
    7. Which is the most powerful organization that charname comes into contact with (overall)?
    8. If you could make the ultimate “power-gaming” party using ANY character that charname comes into contact with, who’d be in it?
    9. Who is most powerful magic-user charname encounters?
    10. Who is most powerful Priest/ Cleric that charname encounters?

    1-Umm not sure.

2-Improved Yaga Shura. His army never seemed to finish as we slaughtered them all for hours!

3-That chick mage in Improved Asylum mod. She is level 50 mage. Checked with SK. You got to be kidding. Or wait, Melanthium, that guy was about to kill gods and destroy everything! :p

4-Melissan. She is evil, just kind of evil suited for great villains. She abuses everyone for her own ways, she even lies to her own god and cheats him. She is one wicked b***. :p

    5-Don't know, never played BG1.

6-Twisted RUne. Or so I think. Just look at what they use for guarding a place; an uber level lich, an arch-mage, a terrifying Beholder, a patriarch vampire and a veteran swordsman. NO organisation could achieve such a group!

7-Red Wizards sounded tough but I killed their ajents in Planar Spehere mod. So I guess still Twisted Rune, that fight still makes me soo scared!

8-Ha! I guess improved Five will make an excellent party! Improved Illisera, Yaga Shura, Sendai, Abazigal, Balthazar. These make a good party, covering all needs. Still, PC party manages to beat them all in Ascension battle, but...

9-Melanthium. Or Improved JonBon. They both have infinite amount of very deadly spells!

10-Oh this is tricky. I am not sure, never had a problem with cleric enemies. They fall pale in comparison to sheer destructive power of mages.

Sorry, it seems I answered the questions according to my heavily-moded game, sorry, but this is what I know and play. ;)

    1. If you take each one sparately, I'm not quite sure. If you take both together, then definitely Elminster (he's one of the few who has both great power and great political status)

    2. Yaga Shura, hands down. Sendai is a close second, mainly because you fight her army in little bits, which makes it much easier.

    3. Melissan.

    4. Melissan.

    5. That's tough. I'd say the Flaming Fist, considering the endless supply of soldiers they have in chapter 7.

    6. The Cowled Wizards, without a doubt.

    7. The Cowled Wizards (again)

    8. Melissan and the Five without Illasera (she's a real pushover unmodded). On second thought, it would be Yaga Shura, Melissan, Draconis, Abazigal and Demogorgon. Those five together would be quite something under the control of the player.

    9. Hard to say. If handled properly, probably Irenicus (though the AI does a very poor job). For the sheer potential to kill your party within 2 seconds, Kangaxx the Demilich.

    10. Sendai, I would say.

    9.

    1. Not really sure, never paid much attention to that part of the game.

    2. Yaga Shura. Sendai's got a pretty good army too, but it's all small encounters, so you don't experience it in the fullest. Balthazar has a nice army too, but it's limited in quantity (the monks and mercenaries stop coming after a while).
And I think Roenall should have a much larger army too. You get a message that he's advancing on your castle, and when you finally get to the fight, there's only 10 of them, and Roenall is even fighting in the front line. He should have something like 100 of soldiers, combined with a couple of clerics, archmages and some fighters who aren't cannon fodder (but not too many). But I digress.
Demogorgon summons endless amounts of demons too, could this be considered an army as well? Because then he's nominated too.

    3. Melissan is probably the most powerful. Prove that Fighter/Mages are indeed a very powerful combination.

    4. Demogorgon. He is Prince of Demons after all. Melissan is a good runner's up, but when I think of her, I mostly think of ambitious, not evil.

    5. Sadly, I have never played BG1, so I don't know.

    6. Cowled wizards? I don't really know, never paid much attention to it.

    7. See above.

    8. Demogorgon, Melissan, Draconis and Abazigal for sure. Gotta love guys that can change into a dragon. Never thought Yaga Shura or Sendai were that hard. Maybe the Fallen Solar? Or Balthazar, if only because he's a monk and monks are cool. Ah, I know, Kangaxx the Demilich. Awesome spell casting, if he indeed has other spells than just Imprisonment and Wail of the Banshee (or whatever it is he also uses).

    9. Kangaxx. JonBon has a more varied spell repertoire, but I still root for Kangaxx.

    10. If Sendai is indeed a priest (always thought she was a mage), then it's Sendai, otherwise it's her underling, the one you meet in the same map as Ogremoch.

    1. Hmmm...Elminster, defiantly.
    2. I'd have to go with Yaga Shura on this one.
    3. Melisan...as she's absorbing Bhaal's essence.
    4. Jon Irenicus, hands down.
    5. The Flaming Fist.
    6. The Cowled Wizards
    7. The Cowled Wizards
    8. Kangaxx, Yaga Shura, Abazigal, Melissan, and Demogorgon. With charname as a leader, and the 'happy party' feature of EoU, they would be unstoppable.
    9. Jon Irenicus.
    10. Sendai. She *is* a high priestess of Lolth after all. :p

And who could crush them all? Yeah, that's right...<charname> :rolling:

Hmm yes Sendai definitely has some cleric levels, but I guess she is a C/M in her natural form. So she can't be counted for a pure priest eh?

I don't think Demogorgon is the most evil. He is prince of demons, right, he is evil by birth, but Melissan is evil by her own choices, actions and ambition.

You can find all you want to about these here: http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=005099#000000

I'm not sure if they ARE the post powerful group y'know. You may have forgotten for example about the Elves for example, or the Drow!

Those of you who've gone for The Cowled Wizards - remember that they work for The Council of Six! Which, I beileve, the Flaming Fist do as well. Also - don't forget THE HARPERS.

Which reminds me - why is everyone putting Elminster for question 1? How does Elminster have any more political clout than... say... Lord Firkraag? Or Tolgerias? Or Lord D'Arnise?
