The 2nd patch is a must, making the game playable at the least and enjoyable for some.

As for mods look right here on SP.

Vicks and Wedge's Mod is a good one to have, simply for the Circlet of Intelligence +6. There's another thread concerning this item, but IDENTIFY AT WILL is the only trait that really matters. The Intelligence is very nice for your wizard/sorcerer to have, or your thief.

The Circle of Eight mod fixes a number of things, and is generally worth having. Install the V&W mod after the Co8, if you're going to be using both.

The second patch is out, and both mods work fine with it. Really no reason not to install:

    1) The "official" patch.
    2) Circle of Eight.
    3) Vicks and Wedge's Mod.

Also, the Case of Beer mod and the 48-Hour Weekend Pass mod are good ones. I prefer to use a 750ml of Bourbon and 12-Pack of Pepsi mod to supplement everything else, but to each their own.

Yeah, it's a good idea to apply the Co8 patch in the middle as stated.. If you are wondering what's in the patch, here's a link:

    http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51032

    BTW,

We've thrown together a BETA patch that has quite a few more fixes. Most done by the resident Assembly Guru moebius2778.

Being a BETA patch however, It's not gone through rigorous QA... We're looking for people who are interested in taking a look at it..

Please be sure to read the note about uninstallation -- I'm looking to get a better installer.. This one can only copy the files to be modified to a backup directory prior to modification.. This means that after you uninstall this mod, you'll need to copy the files back out of the backup directory.

BETA 3.0.4 - You can find it and more about it in the thread here:
    http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread...d=6040#post6040

Please respond here with any issues/comments:
