Anyone here play by email? I dunno Ive submitted a character to one and i have yet to recieve a reply.

To me it seems a less pressured way of roleplaying - you can reply as and when you want.

But I dont know - anybody got any comments or opinions on this?

Yuck. Must be even worse than Playing by Message Board. There's nothing worse than waiting for someone to respond, and having them hold up the story because they're too busy. Blech!
    Live games all the way...

[IMG] I agree - I actually like playing in the chatrooms though...almost as good as live.

Bel - the chat room is almost as fun as real life, except on the chat room you don't get to throw chips at the DM when he throws a red dragon against your 3rd level party ;)

Of course, in high school there was a reason that I spent most weekends in my friends basement surrounded by men.

It would have been a much different scene with the group of us down there. Baldak ruling w/ an iron fist, Kit, Bel, Avaharatereaer/Gasper, Serena coming in every so often ... Shadow Goddess trying to stay later and later each week ...

Heh... I prefer to play around a table.. Then it's also easier for the DM to tell exactly where everybody stands and where the enemies are etc... And at a computer, it seems harder for me to really get into the game, harder to concentrate I think. And you can't start with eating pizza together :)

    Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh, pizza.

I think it's much more fun to play with other people, if you're gonna just do it in a chat room why not play plain old BG2???

    Yay I'm a goblin no more :) !

    Cheers, Void.

What some people seem to forget around here is that not everyone has a couple of straight hours to spend (or are willing to sacrifice their night's rest to be able to play with a couple of Americans/Aussies while living in Europe for example), nor the luck to live in the neighbourhood of a good gaming group. As such Message Board Adventures are an excellent solution, and when you have the luck of being in a group that takes it equally serious as yourself, it can be just as (well, sorta :p ) exciting and fun as any other form of roleplaying.

Ok, after rereading the original topic I noticed I was defending the wrong system. :o Playing by email is something I haven't done yet, and frankly it doesn't sound all too appealing either.
