I format quite often and after I format my hard drive is lovely and fresh and I have a bunch of small tools and programs to install before I get my PC up and running. Mostly I start by getting rid of XP annoyances and optimizing broadband and things like that then download the service packs and updates you know.

What I would like to know is what other decent tools and fixes and other stuff that I could stick on my PC after I format.

So if you could the post what you would install on your PC right after you formatted it, post links and things, it would really help!

    Nothing.

I've found that most of the so-called 'optimizers' actually slow down your system.

I only put on XP Pro, then maybe one or two games + Office Suite, but I leave the hard drives clear and well defragged.

My broadband is so darn fast that no program could optimize it and my firewall helps performance of that somewhat.

Xteq's X-Setup is a good one. I still use it, even though my version of it's about 2 years old. It's got all kind of tweaks through it, which are really just registry changes. For the most part, anyways.

Just head over to http://www.download.com, and do a search for "X-Setup".

Great thank you! Yeah, the registry changes and things like that are what I am after. I had a program that takes away the annoying error "send/don't send" thing and it gets rid of that kind of thing but I can’t remember what it is called.
