[IMG] After making a couple characters with 18's for most stats, and mercilessly slaughtering all the townsfolk of Athkatla, I came to thinking. Could any normal peasent picked off the street reach the same level of power as me? So I decided to take a break and play around a little.

I made the character the equivalent of a peasant. All stats 9, Hp7, Lvl 1, true neutral, no profficiencies, etc... and decided to make him a fighter for leveling purposes. Just to be fair, I put the dificulty on core rules and vowed not to use any of his bhaal powers. What follows is the epic account of the character aptly named Peasant and his quest for Godhood.

I started out by running to the equipment room and got a long sword, splint mail, helmet, and small shield. Freed Jaheira, and Minsc, for the easy 6,000 xp, kicked everyone out of the party and decided to forge on ahead solo. By now I was already lvl 3 with a whopping 15hp, and I had gained a profficieny point which I put into the longsword I just got.

I proceeded to shut off the mephit spawning machine for 2,000 xp. Leveled again now at 23hp, and emerged victorious after the battle with the mighty lightning mephit.

I then answered Aataq's question and he summoned an ogre mage, which knocked me down to 2hp, then Ataaq reappears and tells me I am not ready to accept the consequences of my actions and teleports the ogre mage away.

I went north and outnumbered by the 3 goblins I died, but not before taking 2 of the goblins with me. I reloaded and rested for 7 days to get my hp back up. I challenged the trio of goblins again...victorious! a bluestone necklace, sunstone gem and 6gp awaited me.

Rested again for 2 days and decided it was time to challenge the six goblins in the passage to the west. I charged forth and the first goblin fell, but was subsequently mowed down by the other five.

Reload. Again I charged forward, but to no avail.

Reload. I tried pulling them 1 at a time from the hall, but they all came anyway and my AC 4 was not enough to deflect their mighty blows.

Several times later, peasant gets tired of these goblins and decides to show them the true power of a PEASANT OF BHAAL! Muahahahaha!

Cast Horror on the group, and then Vampiric Touched and Larloch Minor Drained them and got my p up to 48 and slaughtered them all. Seeing though as I had to resort to my bhaal powers to win against a group of goblins, I decided to call it quits.

    Final Stats:
    Fighter Lvl 4
    XP 13178
    HP:23
    Thaco: 17
    AC:4
Creatures Slain: 3 goblins and a lightning mephit, but really powerful ones i swear!

...and so ends the adventure of the peasant of bhaal. If only every peasant in the game could reach such heights of power....

Great story dude! You´ve inspired me to do a sequel. Hopefully I shall be able to lay the smack down on those 6 mean goblins and escape the wicked prison.

Be sure to stay tuned on the Peasant of Bhaal´s adventure for Godhood :D

Couldn´t do a new post so

    [EDIT]

I made it alittle easier for my Peasant, made him a Monk instead of a fighter.
But hey, every man was made for different things... or something :D

With his stunning blow things were pretty easy.
I reloaded a few times cuz the three assasins got the XP from the Ulvaryl instead of me the first 4-5 times or so.
And the good ol´ "One-Step-At-A-Time" tactic was used more than once :)

Anyway... several Mephits, Goblins a few golems a Cambion and an Otuygh later he´s in Adventure Mart´s with ~148000 XP, 8150 gold and ready to take on the Circus Tent so he can get some more money to buy a pair of Bracers of AC 3 :D

    HAHA!
I forgot to sell the bracers and necklace I found, after I ID and sell those I should be able to get myself those nice bracers...
Will make the Tent even easier

A peasant as a monk? Now thats just too easy. If a peasant just woke up one day and decided hey I'm going to go be an adventurer, do you really think he'd be a monk? The reason that peasant is a fighter is that its the most generic class and probably the only thing a peasant could be from a role-playing perspective. He wasn't raised in the correct setting to be a monk, or a wizard, or barbarian, etc... if he had been, I doubt he would be a peasant in the first place. I just don't see peasents as having the ability to excel in every class, but who am I to argue about which classes a peasent of bhaal can or cannot be. Interested in seeing how far you manage to get with the monk though... :D

This is a pretty cool idea, but I don't have the patience for it. I'd use my Bhaal powers every chance I got.

Shouldn't our peseant have been at least 6th level? That's what you are to start this game....

but then, you are supposed to have defeated Sarevok, too.

The peseant idea would work better starting BG1.... our hero is already an experienced adventurer by the time he's in BG2 Irenicus's dungeon...

that's why the mephits and goblins are so tough. Plus, you are trying to get through without a party of friends..... why? don't peseants have friends? low level, weak stat friends, but EVERYBODY has friends. Even homeless people have their homeless friends in the cardboard box at the next exit viaduct...panhandling at the next street corner?!?

But. hey, it's an interesting effort anyway...

A peasent of Bhaal could be a cleric, he could be an average man who prays fervently and gets his prayers answered one day. Or he could be a theif, a peasent who has always engaged in some unseemingly activities at night, climbing into houses and stealing as such. A peasent could even be a sorcerer, he stumbled upon his power all of a sudden. This would actually make the most sense, as Irenicus would have a purpose in imprisoning you because your a sorcerer, an abnormal being, as opposed to some random peasent.

Exactly, the Bhaal peasant is alittle bit special. But monk seems to be to powerful so far since I didn´t have any problems getting through the first dungeon at all.
I´ve always rolled til I get a perfect score so I dont know how much more difficult it will be having 9 in all stats. But unless that will be much harder I dont see any problems getting through the game. Soloing with a monk is pretty easy.

And about friends... If he had a party it would be too easy since they would do all the work, soloing with him is the though part.

While I disagree with a peasent having 18 in anything I believe 9 in everything is to low. An average farmer from the middle ages should have been able to haul around more than 90 pounds of stuff, I'de give a male farmer peasent a strenth score of 16 easy, maybe even 18/03-29 or something like that. His dex would probably be low, like 9, and constitution would be a bit higher since he works everyday outside rain or snow, I'de give him a con score of 14. Thats how a fighter peasent should be made:
    16-18/29
    9
    14
    9
    9
    9

    A cleric would be:
    15-16
    9
    13
    9
    14-16
    9
    9

    A theif:
    10-14
    15-16
    12-13
    9
    9
    9

Anything over that is unrealistic, and really a peasent monk is unrealistic as well. Those 3 are the only classes I could see a peasent being, perhaps a sorcerer but thats just sheer randomness.

A monk with rolls of 18 is completely unfair and defeats the point of role playing a peasent. You are now just soloing a monk who started at first level instead of 7th.

I have 9 in all stats with this monk.
And "perfect roll" for me isn´t 18 in all, can you even get that by rolling? I dont think so.
But say if I make a fighter then my roll will have to be:
    Str: 18/00
    Dex: 18
    Con; 18
Wis, Int and Char must be atleast 10.

    Mage:
Dex, Con, Wis and Int must be 18.
Lower char max to get as much as possible in str.

Can someone give me a good reason why a peasant cant become a monk.
    You can choose the class.
Forget the peasant for a while and lets talk about "the real bhaalchild". Couldn´t be monk in #1 but can in #2. So did he go to a temple and converted to monk between Sarevok and being kidnapped by Irenicus? I dont think so.

My "all 9 stats" would explain everything btw.
He quitted being a peasant when he wasnt all grown, went to the monastery, became a monk and got kidnapped.

But then hes not a peasent, but a monk of bhaal. Obviously if your PC is a monk in BG2 you can make the connection that if you had the choice he would have been a monk in BG. Peasent implies just that, a peasant, and since peasants do not live in the correct environment to become monks (a monestary such as Black Raven or Candlekeep)they cannot be monks. Quite simple actually.

The whole peasant scenario I invisioned is that instead of the child of bhaal who defeated Sarevok in Bg1 being captured, they somehow goofed and just grabbed a peasant off the street. Surprisingly though the peasant turned out to be a child of bhaal as well. Which explains why Irenicus is so interested in him and why he's lvl 1. That still doesn't explain how Imoen knows me... ; as for all 9's, thats open for debate, but all 9's is what all the peasants in Bg2 have so why not my peasant? Sure he could be an "exceptional peasant" but he still doesnt need to have great stats, after all he is still a peasant.

I see the biggest problem is with people min maxing the stats of the character as opposed to focusing more on the roleplaying aspect of the character. Why not nerf your stats a little? It makes the game more challenging anyway. Who knows?, maybe a fighter with (gasp!) :whoa: 17 strength, or a 16 constitution if you're feeling really adventurous. :jawdrop:

As for classes a peasant could not realistically be due to upbringing. Paladin, Ranger, Barbarian, Mage, Druid, Monk, and maybe Bard. Anything else is fair game.
