    Hello all, first post.

Long story short, I am stuck at the 4 Dark Treant Encounter in the Fell Wood. As soon as I kill them, the screen gets that slight filter over it that usually means you are going to watch something happen. (ie. can't interact with characters, click on them, etc) The game never recovers from this state, but merely sits there, making it impossible for me to do anything, can't even move. I've let it sit there for a very long time...nothing happens.

I have retried the chapter and the entire wood several times. This happens every time. I am not willing to start the game over, and will simply never play it again if this party is shot. That's a shame too, because I have finished every Infinity game and they are one of my favorites.

I have searched all over the internet for a similar problem, but been unable to find one. None of the companies that are related to producing IWDII offer even a tiny bit of support, and all the links in the documentation are BS 404 file not fount. No official or unofficial support.

What the hell can I do? My IWDII has been fully updated to current since I created the party.

P.S. - The game still seems to think everything is fine and time passes normally, because my characters with regeneration items are, in fact, regenerating at normal speed.

black isle is dissolved, so it's kind of hard for a company to provide tech support when they don't exist

ok .. delete the cache ... try reinstalling ... maybe reinstall to a different directory?

You should get a scene showing the path to the north opening up. Perhaps that part is missing. Could only be an install problem.
Do you have any mods installed? And wht is your OS?

I'm currently on my second install, I've never downloaded or installed any IWD2 mods; only patched to current. I'm on XP Pro.

I have this problem too (pretty different setup though, 2k pro and a decent amount of mods), and can't seem to find a way around it. I just kill the solo treant and them jump to the next area. I have a similar problem outside the citadel, so once the brain is dead, I jump to chapter 5. It's annoying, and I miss out on some items, but it's the only thing I've found that works.

I had this one, it's happend a few times and the easiest thing is to re-start, although, that far through the game would be a nightmare. there is a cheat code to skip levels. It should be around here somewhere

Actually, I spotted a fix in some info on Sorcerer's: it's an error that sometimes occurs if your resolution is set above 800x600, so set it to that for that fight, then restore it afterwards. Hopefully the same action will fix my problem at the citadel too.

^Whoa I had the VERY SAME problem in HoF, as soon as I killed the last treant the screen was frozen and I was stuck. BAD NEWS, my resulotion was already 800x600 (the higher res. makes creatures and messages SOO SMALL it gets ugly IMHO ah and my PC can not play it :D )

I was able to go on after several tries, I do not know the reason or cure. Try untill success. :)

I had this problem too, the game froze the moment the Wood opened it's North exit after defeating the last of the treants. However, the fix to lower my res to 800x600 worked like a clock(I was playing on 1600x1200). I also unchecked the box that unlocks the other resolutions, not sure if that makes any difference.

    Thanks for the tip!
