Pokemon Go

Gotta Catch E'm ALL! As if people aren't already ruining their necks with phones. This one really takes the cake.
My favorite story is the person that ran into a cop while driving and playing

 

Not playing this myself though i know some friends and colleagues that do.
I used to play pokemon back in the day when i was still a teen and the first gameboy games arrived, but nowadays i simply don't have the time.
I do try to go out jogging at least 3 times per week, but while i'm doing that i'm more worried about my heartrate then about potential pokemon around to catch.

That said, we did already have some fights over the game - people beating others up because they took over their pokegym and stuff like that.

 

Played it for a bit as a casual game, stopped when I caught my favorite pokemon (Ninetales).
Now I just play Yugioh.

 

I wouldn't even play it if it were a proper Pokemon game.

 

I started noticing a lot of youngsters (early twenties, late teens) walking around in the park, just staring at their phones, starting from last week. At first I figured it might be something like a hiking tour or geocaching thing that was organised locally, but it seems more likely that they're just playing the Pokemon Go thing. We don't have cliffs here for them to fall off of, merely ponds to fall into and trees to walk into. And other people to walk into. Or if they venture onto the road, cars that have to avoid them.

It seems rather endemic, too. Apparently many people are playing it at my wife's work as well. Not so much at my work, I guess engineers are not the target demographic for this type of game.

 

My son was playing for a bit, but is too busy working. Although he would really like to catch a Seel and raise it to a Dewgong (his favorite Pokémon from when he was in middle school). Pardon my spelling as I'm sure I may have those wrong.

 

I have played it a bit. My main game these days is Ingress, which is the precursor to Pokemon Go. Pokemon Go didn't capture my interest because nothing really happens in the game.

The competitive nature of Ingress keeps me going on that game though.
