I'm currently using Infinity Explorer to put together an NPC interactions guide that I will send to SP once finished. Anyway, I must say that I am of two minds regarding Jan Jansen's non-stop stories.

There is something of the utterly ridiculous in his stories. Golodon the Unmanned losing a certain part of his anatomy to a Cone of Cold accident is but one example. The Great Underwear Shortage, etc.

On the other hand, all of his stories possess a surprising degree of consistency. Aunt Petunia the Ranger, etc. He even works in elements of the adventure that the protagonist has come across, like Dradeel the elven mage who's haunted by his experience with werewolves.

There is that adage, "Truth is stranger than fiction". So what do you think. Are Jan's stories actually honest recollections of his past? Or do you think he's full of it?

Gnomes are known to be very "Forrest Gumps", but with a little (or a lot) of lies...I don't think his stories are totally lies, but to think they're 100% truth is to be too innocent.

I voted concoction, but some of them are probably true. Either way I like them and take Jan every time through.

Jan is a storyteller who gets carried away in the moment -- there may be a kernel of truth to his tales, but said kernel is very, very small.

[IMG] I think most of Jan's stories are, in fact, truthful! :jawdrop:

This gnome sells turnips for a living and creates a wide variety of strange contraptions. His family in the Slums is also quite strange.

Perhaps, just perhaps, Jan belongs to the gnome version of the "Addams Family". :)

If Jan's tales were real, he would fail 50% of every spell he cast.

[IMG] Jans' stories remind me of the tales my good Gnome-friend Jonsaw Gondir tells me. Jonsaw is a Gnome wizard and is very intelligent, though it must be said... mad. He has too much focus on magic and telling stories to actually make them up. Though, madness tends to run within the Gnomes and he often gets facts and stories muddles up though they are coherent and can be truthful if heard in the correct way and understood as you are meant to (though may be difficult.)

As Jonsaw is to cats, Jan is to turnips.
