I prefer black hair, black coffee, (semi)black women, too

 

I never get to be white as my son always claims white.

 

Most of the people I play against tend to be (a) very bad chess players and (b) impatient. They usually try to press the attack too quickly so my normal strategy is to wait for them to make a mistake. I usually don't have to wait very long. If they are playing white then this just accelerates the matter.

Also, I like the colour black.

 

I'd like to make you notice that in chess game the white is automatically favourite in the development of the game; supposing to have two perfecly equal players confronting, the aim of the one using the black should be to have a draw game.

 

I like to win. But that doesn't mean I don't suck.

White.

 

since I usually offer to play the game and them to start, I more often than not, end up being black.
I don't mind either, though colorwise I prefer black over white.

 

Black all the way, I hate going first.

 

White. Get the first move, you set up the game. Its also great for Queens Gambit.

 

Black. It's because I find it easier and more interesting to react to the other player's moves than move myself. I usually lose on the white side, while winning on the black side.

 

Black, my start up works better when using it.

I tend to like Black too, I'm almost never winning any longer though. i was a great chess player once... Ahh, memories

I voted for black, just because I always seem to be black when ever I play.

 

I don't really have a problem at the side but i do tend to get more times the black because a) I love black colour b) when you play second you do have the initiative since from the first move your opponent is exposing his strategy making it easier for the second player to react better

I usually end up playing white, because my opponent wants to play black. I actually couldn't care less. If my opponent wants to play with white, I let him.

White is best.

White has the advantage of playing gambits. Gambits with black are rare, although I like Falkbeers counter gambit which is played against a popular gambit called Kings Gambit. But generally gambits are played to gain a head start in developing your chess pieces, and since black already starts behind, it is harder to gain that advantage.

Black is a colour for those who like to play defensive and try and spot a weakness in the offensive players position, and most black openings aim for this.

Thats basically it. Any of you play chess on a more than self trained level? Just curious.

@Foradashtar, that is a interesting thought. Since after the first move white reacts to black's moves too. If you know opening theory. So you only get the thrill of reacting to your opponents' moves one more time when playing black next white...

@mithrantir, if you read opening theories you have probably seen, that white has a countermove for every wise black first move, And as I told Foradashtar, from the second move white counters black too, so there is no constant magical spotting out enemies weaknesses with black. And for each starting move that white make there are several good strategies to follow afterwards depending on what Black's first move is. So even if you know white's first move you have no idea what will come next, nomatter what smart countermove you made.
