[IMG] Well, like the subject suggest, this is a poll. I would like to know if you would prefer a IE game with more or less dialog. :rolling:

More. I'd like a game where you don't need to kill anything to 'win'. Making dialog and conversational skills of utmost importance.

I prefer different games with different amounts of dialogs. Both Icewind Dale with very little of it and Planescape: Torment with a lot are great games.

A game like IWD or BG needs a good story. A good RPG-game also has to give you a chance to roll-play, wich means to have more ways to act on a situation. That was good in BG 1/2 and IWD... so the game doesn't need more, but also not less dialog... however when I have to choose, rather more then less dialogues...

More, but not the stuff that drags on and on. Keep it good and I'll read it, other wise I'll just keep clicking on some think intill I kill it.

I want to plug my head into my PC so I can talk for myself.

Gonzago: See that little hole, most likely on your speakers, with a little picture of a set of headphones near it? Put your tongue in there and talk... The effects are amazing...

Personally I love games with a lot of dialogue, PlaneScape:Torment is my favourite game, I'll never tire of it.

Good dialogue is essential to any RPG, without it, it's just NOT a Role Playing Game in my opinion.

With games like Baldur's Gate and IceWind Dale, you read the dialogue once and that's it, it holds nothing new for you. Whereas with PlaneScape:Torment every time you play the game you notice something different in the dialogue, it's amazing...

Something tells me that wouldn't work in a game dialogue.

[IMG] I'm with the Bear. More of both.

  15. While I like plenty of dialouge, oftentimes I find myself needing a nice bit of imagery to go with it. Not to say I don't have any imagination, it's just... there's books, and then there's games. They're different things, although elements of the other can be tied in with each.

Guess I'm just another SW special effects sucker. :D

    [IMG] Good thread!

As DRSW says there has to be some real reason for the conversation, and there has to be an EFFECT! I am truly missing that in BG series. Although there sometimes are major differences to what you say, I find myself all to many times clicking through dialogues knowing that nomatter what I say the result is the same. This is tedious!

This is not so in PS:T :thumbs up: Actually if Dialouge in BG was as in PS:T I would still be playing that game. And if the story was as good as in PS:T games I would adore it. I still think the main plot is nothing more than second rated next to what adventures have been written for PnP. No I would say it sucked.

BG IYou are a son of a God. People hunt you
SoAYou are a son of a God. People hunt you
ToBYou are a son of a God. People hunt you

Only the vast numbers of sidequest gives the game replayability and joyous moments in my opinion. The main plot is so dull, obvious and stiff. [The graphics (beeing able to live into the characters) and character development is awesome too. But that is besides toppic.]

So I vote for more meaningfull conversation. That would be exceptional. Really thrilling. But also demanding on the Games developers.
    As Extremist would have said.

[IMG] I believe the word is "dialogue."

["Dialog" is an accepted variant for the word "dialogue" - BTA]

Really? I've never heard that before. Is it inflected depending on which English-speaking country a person is from?

Definitely more dialogue options. Too often do I find having to choose between things I don't want to say. Like, "Yeah, sure, as long as there's money in it." or "No, I'd rather not risk my neck for you." (these are just examples I made up, but very similar to ones I've encountered in the game) You'd think we could choose things like "Of course I shall help thee, fair damsel." ;) or "No, thy cause is one of purely evil gain, I shall not help thee." (These are 2 examples of the kinds of things I'd LIKE to say in the games)

Hey, I/we should print this out and send it to BioWare, maybe they will make a new game with tons of MEANINGFUL dialog! :rolling:
