[IMG] Do you have a dream job? Have you ever achieved your dream job? If so was it as good as you thought it would be or was it more of a nightmare job?

Clarification: The first question is asking if you have a dream job in mind (at the moment), and the second question is asking whether you have actually had (been employed in) your dream job. Hope that clears up any confusion.

I'd like to work in Game Design, but I don't know how to go from a farm in the middle of nowhere to even get enough money to go back to school...

Isn't it contradictory that , at the time of my post, 60% of the respondents currently have their dream job, but 0% have achieved their dream job?

Anyway, my current job is pretty good (just started it a month ago), but I wouldn't call it my dream job. Not that there's much demand for someone who wants to sit on a beach all day. In Canada. In January. :p

I would imagine that "Do you have a dream job" could be interpreted as "Do you have in mind a job that you would consider a dream job".

Interpreted thusly, there would be no contradiction in the answers.

Oh, and they don't call it "work" for nothing; I'd say anyone who has achieved a "dream job" would end up saying that it wasn't what they expected :)

Student here, so I don't know for sure, but my dream job would be something like:

    -- From 10am to 4pm (6 hour days, yup).
    -- 5 days a week.
-- Salary of something like 2,500-3,500€ (where 2,500€ is actually the recommended salary for greenies like me).
-- Business-like work. Parlament member, corp. board member, private entrepreneur, etc.

That would be my dream job, but guess it is impossible for me to have one like that without spending at least 10+ years in the career and getting at least a few wrinkles to my face...

I can't answer the questions because I'm still in school, but have every likelyhood of achieving the target. (I fulfill all criteria, and mmy grades are easily good enough) I intend to fly for the RAAF. Specifically, F-35 JSF. Yep. I aim high.

I sum it up like this- You get to fly a $100000000000 (No typo. One Hundred Million Australian) plane around the sky faster than Mach 1. Then you get to defend your country by blowing stuff up. Then you get paid for it.

    What's not to like?

That has got me thinking, I don't know exactly. Porn star or a professional footballer, but that is up in the clouds. Realistically, I don't know, not needing to have a job would be a dream I guess!

The fact that: If you don't happen to be Tom Cruise you could actually get hit by an enemy rocket? :D

Another student here. No idea what I'd consider a dream job right now.

Currently a student on summer vacation, taking care of a family member full-time (playing Baldur's Gate when I have a spare moment :D ). Ideal job would be video/computer game tester. Kind of like those guys at PCGamer, but without the need to write articles. I suppose I'd be an 'expert freelance beta tester'. (Now if only they paid me. :money: )

EDIT: Realistically, I suppose I could be on the other end, coding the games people play. That is why I'm studying programming. ;)

    @Arabwel - I'm with you.

My dream job is a writer and I do that now. Unfortunately, I've yet to be *paid* for a story I wrote. For me, that's why I have my dream job, yet don't have it. Sometimes, it's not all about the benjamins.

    [IMG] Computer Programmer. :rolling:

Apparently I'm at an advantage becuase the pay is pretty good and there are not many female programmers in comparison to male ones and even some game designers have commented on needing more women in the business :rolling:

If it fails I'll still have fencing. Whether as a sport or a means to get into programming

Well, don't I just feel like a moron for mis-interpreting the first question. :insert_a-still-absent_descent_embarrassed_smilie_here:

And I'm shocked that nobody has mentioned something accounting-related yet (trust me, it exists, but I'm on the waiting list.) :p

Splunge, if even YOU haven't outlined the specifics of an accounting related dream job, what hope is there for anyone else?
