After watching some program on TV the other day, and someone I talked to who has resently been over seas, it reminded me that the rest of the world is different to New Zealand. One thing which it particully amazed me was the number of times people ate out (as in take aways, resturants, cafes, anything that isn't made at home really, including premade meals from the super-maket). So I was wondering about the people here, so here's a poll to help my wondering find a conclussion.

A simple question, or 7, how many times you eat out, which just to reinforce what I already said, it includes Resturants, cafes, take-aways, premade meals from the supermarket, and anything else which isn't made at home.

[Edit] I seem to have forgot about pubs or anything like that :bang: Just put them down under cafes I guess. Now I think about it, I should have had a "Other" catagory.

Interesting question. A big factor would be what you do for lunch because hardly anyone seems to bring a packed lunch any more.

It also depends whether you live/work in the city or not.

New Zealanders probably aren't as bad as the Americans or the English when it comes to eating loads of takeaways but I bet they're not far behind.

Does school cafeterisa count as "eating out"? :p

Me, I don't eat out that often, but sometimes the craving for good food becomes overwhelming and I spend way too much money having dinner somewhere.

Because hamburger restaurants count, I eat out once in a week. Eating at other places is just too expensive for me.

About once a week, when I'm feeling too lazy to cook. Usually some cheap pizza from a nearby market. :o

OK, this may just be me, but #1 is in general, #2, 3 and 4 and about breakfast, lunch and dinner. Then #5 asks "Do you often "eat out" for any other meal of the day?" How many meals do people eat?

    Anyway, we're usually 1-2 times a week.

Edit: Damnit! This is my 1002nd post. I must have posted my 1000th yesterday and missed it. :almostmad:

Heh - I have the "bachelor's disease" - I live alone, and when I am too lazy to cook or do dishes, or when I am tired, or just when I feel like it, I get food from someplace other than my refrigerator.

During the week I pack lunches for all three of us. Velcro and I try to limit lunches out to 1-3 times per week. On the weekends we tend to have breakfast late and then get caught out running errands at lunch time, so we'll often eat out - somewhere cheap and fast.

As for dinners, I like to plan a week's worth of meals before I go grocery shopping so I don't have to stop for something to cook each night. I generally build one dinner out into the plan each week, although another may crop up spontaneously.

I eat out for lunch when I am working. If I am at my office I tend to go to a Subway restaurant near my office but if I am out at clients' I will generally go to a fast food burger restaurant or a greasy spoon.

If visiting Mom and Dad and mooching dinner off of them counts as eating out I tend to do that several times a week. ;)

What about second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, and supper? :p

Not to mention the midnight snack. ;)

I eat out a bit for lunch because I am never near home at that time, and hot lunch is always more appealing.

Chinese and pizza for takeout is a weekly supper at my place.

In Malaysia, you don't need to be rich to hire a maid (same as Hong Kong, Singapore & Taiwan, economically raising countries around south east asia), when you have a maid at home, you eat out often? i don't even have to worry about washing the dishes (dish washing machine is really foreign here). i don't even have to worry about laundry. Eat out? you must be kidding me.
