Fame is a huge bull's eye on your ass for evey wannabe tough guy who wants to make a name for themselves...

Fortune gives you the money to buy the toys to give you the edge over someone like that...

It would have to be fortune - financial security isn't something to be sniffed at, and unfortunately money is indeed required for most things.

Well, to be different I go with fame. Fortune lasts a lifetime.... but fame lasts forever.

    Yup.
Whatever money can't buy, fame won't get you either.

It's a two way street. When you're famous, you can use it to make a fortune, and when you're loaded with cash, you'll be famous in no time and people will come crawling from under their rocks to please you.

Fame and fortune go together hand in hand.

Fame. In the good reputation and some glory sense. But fame, like money, is a temporal thing. It takes a bit more to earn a name that lasts forever.

Non nobis Domine non nobis sed nomini Tuo da gloriam...

I do have a knack for squeezing the most cash possible out of an adventure, but what use do I have of gold? I'm a paladin. So long as I can pay my bills, afford my booze and not look like a cheapskate around ladies, I don't really need it. I'll always end up giving the loot to a girl that would otherwise end up selling her body on the street, or to a child who would otherwise go steal from people, to a countryside cleric who runs in debt with his small church. Whatever.

Fame if used right can lead to fortune. But then fortune can lead to fame as well. So I would probably pick fortune.

But then of course, if one could only have one of the options (ie. not use your fortune to become famous) I would pick fame without a doubt. As Takara said, fame lasts for ever.

I'll go with Fame, while I do like gold I prefer to be known for what I did, not becuase I'm rich. Money also gets you a lot of money suckers and ass kissers.
