I'd say the cleric, because he was by far the most useful character in my party. My mage came a close second.

Paladin. Just a fun class to play from both a role-playing perspective and power-gaming. Can hold the front line well and resists next to everything.

I'd say Sorcerer. If I could pick two, I'd pick the second one as Paladin.

I've solo'd a Pally/Sorc (as has almost everyone here), and I found that one to be by far, the most POWERFUL character, not to mention, most fun to play with. Even otherwise, I have found that a standard sorcerer, with the correct set of spell choices and feats, is the most fun character to play.

    Oh yeah...and my favourite!!

A dwarf battleguard of Tempus wielding an axe and a crossbow is my favorite class.

[IMG] sorcerer ain't broken, but look at the name o' this very site. Anywayz, I prefer sorcerer over the likes of mage because you have to rest a lot in IWD2 and you don't have to prepare spells.

BTW, he's way cooler then a mage, who is a stuffy, boring old fool: a studier. I dislike studiers... A sorcerer has it the 'innate' way. He's just plain cool.

How does the paladin-sorcerer fare in AC. without armor he ain't so protective I guess. Without the abjuration spells of course. Else he'd have casting failure. It'd be a shame. I do get the obvious charisma link though.

Shield (Abjuration, 1) lasts. Mage Armour (Conjuration, 1) lasts even longer, but adds less AC - 4 and not 7. There are also spells and items that increase your dexterity. I was able to get well over 20 with a natural score of 10. Also, some other spells increase AC directly. Expertise is non-magical, so with DEX items, armour bracers etc it still gives you some protection.

But is a sorcerer actually ever going to run out of 1st (Shield, Mage Armour) or 2nd (Cat's Grace)level spells that last for whole hours?

With all buffs, my record was something like 44 AC with natural DEX of 10.

I always go for Druids. Heh, same as Falstaff in this aspect :)
    They're interesting to RP with.
My second choice'd be a monk.

Why not Druid/Monk then? Deems very interesting. As skills are more or less the same and you're going to wield light weapons only (finesse), I would suggest:

    Monk(3)/Ranger(3)/Druid(x)

Benefits: free dual wielding, racial enemy, some hiding (monk + ranger), movement rate increased (don't know if it applies to bear form, hehe), WIS bonus added to AC if you don't wear armour. You need to max out DEX and WIS for this one to pay off, though. Note that WIS works also for your spells and DEX for both AC and attack bonus.

With your paladin/wizard did you have any boosting spells such as tensers or mordenkainens sword(the BAB)?

[IMG] The rogue is not popular at all. It is however, easy to find the cause of this. BG2 is nearly a paradise for thiefs compared to the battle-oriented IWD2, although not as cool as morrowind. Me and a friend both took Assassin coincidentally, because it's so fun. You just don't seem to use any thief in it's full potential.

True, i just kicked my rogue out. She was a bit strange though, hin with a greatsword  (shouldnt be able to use it at all)
Now i bash open locks with my massive bear claws and it works just as fine.

    @chevalier
I was thinking for a while what kind of a druid shall i make. Monk3/ranger3/druid x is nice, but i dont see a reason for 3 ranger levels. Two are good enough for multiclassing penalty and one for dual-wielding. In the end i decided to go for druid x/fighter 1. Weapon proficencies and an extra feat, nothing much. :)

Right, ranger(2) is enough. AFAIK there's no significant benefit on level 3. And well, why I said monk(3) is also quite beyond me. Perhaps because of my current IWD2 character. Actually, monk(1)/ranger(1)/druid(x) is perfectly viable. If you're LN, I really really advise getting at least one level in monk if your DEX is maxed out. You'll normally have at least 20 WIS and items will raise it even more (+5 from a ring, for example), giving you additional AC bonus of more than any armour that doesn't reduce your DEX bonus. Also, monk(1) means Evasion.
